kitten

Like people, cats need oral care, such as brushing their teeth! Brushing teeth can ensure the health of cats to a certain extent, make cats get used to brushing their teeth from an early age, and gradually simplify this work.

First, brush your teeth.

Most domestic pet cats eat soft and wet food such as canned food, which is easy to grow tartar. Over time, it will develop into gingivitis, dental disease and root inflammation, and soon the teeth will fall off. Therefore, cats, like people, need to brush their teeth to remove tartar and avoid bad breath. A cat with good teeth will be a healthy and beautiful cat.

In order to get cats into the habit of brushing their teeth, cats can start stroking their teeth with their fingers as soon as they are weaned. After getting used to it, wrap gauze around your fingers to wipe your teeth, and then brush your teeth with a toothbrush specially prepared for cats. It is best to brush your teeth once a week to prevent them from falling out. The earlier cats get used to brushing their teeth, the easier the job will be.

Prepare the following utensils: toothpaste, toothbrush and cotton swab. Don't use ordinary toothpaste to brush your cat's teeth, but buy special toothpaste for pets. Apply a little toothpaste to the cat's lips to get it used to the taste of toothpaste. Before using the toothbrush, touch the gums with a cotton swab to get the cat used to it. When the cat is ready, brush it with a toothbrush, pet toothpaste or normal saline. You may need help to keep the cat still.

Second, dental calculus

The deposition of dental calculus is the result of mineralization and accumulation of bacteria in the oral cavity in the presence of saliva (especially calcium) or mineral salts in food residues. Accumulated dental calculus and rotten food residues can damage teeth and gums. Dental calculus can cause gingivitis and bad breath.

If calculus is too serious, it will lead to tooth loss. It is suggested that the owner consult a veterinarian, who will give correct advice and use an ultrasonic machine to clean the cat's teeth, remove dental calculus and maintain oral hygiene. Some high-quality dry food particles are specially designed to clean teeth through mechanical friction when cats eat; Moreover, it contains special substances, which can chelate calcium in saliva, thus slowing down the formation of dental calculus.
