Structure and characteristics of cervix

The cervix is located in the lower part of the uterus, approximately conical, with a length of 2: 5 ~ 3 cm. The upper end is connected with the uterine body, and the lower end goes deep into the vagina.

Cervical vagina and upper cervical vagina

The vault at the top of the vagina divides the cervix into two parts: the part where the cervix protrudes into the vagina is called cervical vagina, and the part above the vaginal vault is called the upper part of the cervix and vagina.

Effect of fertility on cervix

Women who do not give birth at the external cervical orifice are round, and those who give birth through vagina are horizontal.

Changes in size and proportion

The size of the cervix and the proportion of the uterus vary with age and endocrine status.

Composition structure

The cervical wall consists of mucosa, muscularis and adventitia.

Internal and external orifice and cervical canal

The center of the cervix is a slightly flat long shuttle cavity, the upper end of which is connected with the uterine cavity through the internal opening of the cervix, and the lower end of which enters the vagina through the external opening of the cervix. The cervical canal is located between the internal and external orifice.
