Shrimp and crab belong to higher crustaceans, and their genetic relationship and body structure are similar. Their foreheads and pliers, like swordsmen and warriors, are often called "shrimp soldiers and crab generals" They are closely related to human beings, not only the creative source of writers and artists, but also the delicacies of gourmets! 2021From April 27th to August 22nd, Guangdong Provincial Museum specially planned a feast of shrimps and crabs-the original exhibition "Shrimp Soldiers? Crab will ",to feed the audience.
Shrimp and crab are very common in daily life and are "frequent visitors" on people's dining tables, but the audience may not know their natural science knowledge. With the theme of natural science knowledge of shrimps and crabs, the exhibition featured 370 exhibits of fossil specimens, live shrimps and crabs and related cultural relics. The audience can trace the origin of shrimps and crabs through exhibits, analyze their physical structure and living habits, and understand the species and characteristics of shrimps and crabs through observation and analysis, so as to distinguish the "truth" and "falsehood" of shrimps and crabs.
The exhibition is divided into four parts. The first part, Tracing the Origin of Shrimp and Crab, traces the origin through a series of rare ancient fossil specimens, showing the ancestors of shrimp and crab and their evolutionary route. Which comes first, shrimp or crab? Swimming or crawling first? Maybe the audience will find the answer here. The second part, "Understanding shrimp and crab", shows the basic knowledge of shrimp and crab. Through the morphological structure, basic characteristics and habitat of shrimp and crab, the exhibition explained in detail which arthropods can be called shrimp and crab. The third part "The True and False of a Shrimp, a Soldier and a Crab" is the highlight of the exhibition. Among nearly 10,000 crustaceans named "shrimp" and "crab", only some members can be called shrimp and crab in the true sense. By dividing the four families of shrimps and the main sects of crabs, the living specimens and pictures of nearly 50 kinds of shrimps and 250 kinds of crabs are listed and displayed, covering the most common species in life, so that the audience can master the ability to distinguish between "true and false" shrimps and crabs. The fourth part, "Culture and Cuisine of Shrimp and Crab", enriches the connotation of the whole exhibition, mainly displays literature, diet and artistic creation related to Shrimp and Crab, and leads the audience to feel all kinds of interesting stories and legends and food culture of Shrimp and Crab in their lives from literary and artistic works.
During the exhibition, curators' guided tours, academic lectures and popular science education activities will be held one after another, so that the audience can have a more comprehensive understanding of the exhibition through various forms of educational activities. At the same time, the exhibition cultural and creative products and popular science three-dimensional picture books will be launched, so that the audience can take the exhibition home after watching it.
Shrimp and crab live together with human beings and other creatures on the earth, which is an important part of the natural ecosystem. The exhibition hopes to guide and appeal to people to protect their habitat, biodiversity and our nature by showing the diversity of shrimps and crabs.

The special feature of this exhibition is that from the preface hall, a series of refreshing square pendants are used as decorative elements throughout the exhibition. Through the combination and lighting effect, these hanging sketches rose from the ground to the air at the beginning of the exhibition hall, as if connecting heaven and earth with a blue ocean, which firmly attracted the audience's attention and introduced them into a space full of natural elements. Then, the pendant sometimes tumbles through the exhibition along the exhibition direction, and sometimes goes straight to guide the audience to keep moving forward; Finally, the hanging pieces are spread out in the hollow space between the fourth floor and the third floor of the exhibition hall, and the specimens of marine animals are hung on them. All kinds of marine animals seem to swim in the blue ocean, with huge dinosaur fossils under it, and dinosaurs seem to be leisurely under the blue sky. The whole exhibition is divided into seven relatively independent exhibition halls according to the relevant contents, and finally the whole exhibition ends with the presentation of environmental protection issues and various environmental protection anniversaries.
