The National Women's Basketball Association (WNBA) is a professional women's basketball league sponsored by the American NBA, which was founded in 1996. This is very similar to the American Men's Professional Basketball League (NBA). WNBA held its first session in 1997, with regular season from May to August and playoffs in September.

WNBA's three-point line is 20 feet 6.25 inches (6.25 meters) long, which is the same as the three-point line stipulated by the International Basketball Federation. The circumference of the basketball used in WNBA is at least 28.5 inches (72.4 cm), which is 1 inch (2.54 cm) less than that used in NBA.
In 2004, balls of this size were widely used in women's basketball matches around the world. The time of each session in WNBA is 10 minutes, which is different from 12 minutes in NBA. In the 2004 season, each game of WNBA will be divided into four sections, each section 10 minutes, instead of the previous form of dividing into two sections, each section is 20 minutes.
