Main responsibilities:

1. Formulate strategies, plans, policies and relevant standards for the development of traditional Chinese medicine and ethnic medicine, draft relevant laws, regulations and departmental rules, and participate in the planning and implementation of major national traditional Chinese medicine projects.

2, undertake the supervision and management responsibilities of Chinese medicine medical treatment, prevention, health care, rehabilitation and clinical medication. Plan, guide and coordinate the structural layout and operational mechanism reform of medical research institutions of traditional Chinese medicine. Formulate management norms and technical standards of various TCM medical and health care institutions and supervise their implementation.

3, responsible for the supervision and coordination of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine medical and scientific research institutions, formulate relevant management norms and technical standards.

4. To be responsible for guiding the exploration, arrangement, summary and improvement of ethnic medicine theories, medical skills and drugs, drawing up management norms and technical standards of ethnic medical institutions and supervising their implementation.

5. Organize the general survey of Chinese medicine resources, promote the protection, development and rational utilization of Chinese medicine resources, participate in the formulation of Chinese medicine industry development plans, industrial policies and Chinese medicine support policies, and participate in the construction of the national essential medicine system.

6, organize the development of Chinese medicine talents planning, in conjunction with the relevant departments to develop the qualification standards of Chinese medicine professional and technical personnel and organize their implementation. Organize apprenticeship education, post-graduation education, continuing education and relevant personnel training in conjunction with relevant departments, participate in guiding the reform of Chinese medicine education and teaching, and participate in formulating development plans for Chinese medicine education at all levels.

7, formulate and organize the implementation of Chinese medicine scientific research and technology development plan, guide the Chinese medicine scientific research conditions and capacity building, manage the national key Chinese medicine scientific research projects, and promote the transformation, application and popularization of Chinese medicine scientific and technological achievements.

8. Take the responsibility of protecting the dying diagnosis and treatment technology of traditional Chinese medicine and the production and processing technology of traditional Chinese medicine, organize the collation and research of ancient Chinese medicine books and the inheritance and development of traditional Chinese medicine culture, put forward suggestions on protecting the intangible cultural heritage of traditional Chinese medicine, and promote the popularization of knowledge of disease prevention and treatment of traditional Chinese medicine.

9. Organize the international promotion, application and dissemination of Chinese medicine, and carry out international exchanges and cooperation of Chinese medicine and cooperation with Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
