Grading standard of intellectual disability

According to the classification standards of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the American Association for Mental Retardation (AAMD), mental disabilities are classified according to intelligence quotient (IQ) and social adaptive behavior.

First-degree mental disability (extremely severe): IQ is below 20, and the level of adaptive behavior is extremely lacking;

Secondary mental disability (severe): IQ value is 20 ~ 34, and the level of adaptive behavior is seriously insufficient;

Third-grade mental disability (moderate): IQ value is 35 ~ 49, and the level of adaptive behavior is moderately lacking;

Level 4 mental disability (mild): IQ value is 50 ~ 69, and the level of adaptive behavior is slightly defective.
