How to respect and care for the elderly

On the Double Ninth Festival and the Day of Respect for the Elderly, public opinion creates an atmosphere of respect for the elderly, leading representatives sympathize with the elderly, units and communities care about the elderly, enthusiastic people do something good for the elderly to send some warmth, and the whole society receives education on respect for the elderly. These are all worthy of recognition. However, it seems that it is not enough to respect the elderly only on the Double Ninth Festival and the Day of Respect for the Elderly. We should infiltrate respect and care for the elderly into all aspects of their lives and into every elderly person in real life.

To be fair, in recent years, the party and the government have done a lot of work in respecting and loving the elderly and achieved remarkable results. It is also obvious that the social atmosphere of respecting the elderly has gradually formed and the social pension cause has flourished. But there is no doubt that with the continuous development of the situation and the progress of the times, with the increasing number of elderly people and the increasing degree of social aging, and with the solemn proposal of building a beautiful China and realizing the Chinese dream of national rejuvenation, there are still some problems and deficiencies in respecting and loving the elderly, which require us to make more arduous efforts.

Today, when we respect the elderly, we should highlight the key points and implement the care for the elderly with special difficulties. Some left-behind elderly people whose children are not around for a long time are lonely and helpless and need more care; Some elderly people who have lost their independence and disability need comfort when they are hurt inside; Some elderly people who are sick in bed all the year round, especially when they live like years, need warmth more. To respect the elderly, it is necessary to tilt the focus of care to this group as much as possible, and better reflect the special care for this elderly group in terms of policy formulation, mechanism innovation, practical project promotion, condolences and assistance.

In today's respect for the elderly, we should increase investment and provide more and better services for the elderly. When will it no longer be expensive and difficult for the elderly to see a doctor? When will it really land? When will old age really be in place? These have repeatedly reminded us that respecting the elderly and supporting the elderly has a long way to go. The government should be brave enough to take responsibility, effectively increase investment, and lengthen the "short board" of the cause of aging as soon as possible, so that the fruits of reform, opening up, and economic and social development can truly benefit every elderly person.

Today, when we respect the elderly, we should take this as our goal and meet the actual needs of the elderly groups to the greatest extent. At present, many localities, departments and units have put a lot of brains and done a lot of work in respecting and loving the elderly, but they often lack pertinence. For the elderly in rural areas, I am afraid they need more tangible things such as small bookstores, small theaters, small clinics and small shops than libraries, gyms and sports fields. For the urban elderly, what they urgently need to solve is the venue, fitness equipment and supporting services for the elderly, not just a decoration. Whether in rural or urban areas, the elderly not only have material desires and spiritual pursuits, but also have enthusiasm for political participation. None of this should be ignored or biased. Therefore, today's respect for the elderly requires us to show more sincerity, think about what the elderly think and worry about what the elderly are anxious about. Only in this way can we meet the actual needs of the elderly to the greatest extent.
