Bidding process:
On August 20 15 17, the Chinese Olympic Committee formally submitted a letter of intent from Hangzhou to represent China in bidding for the 19 Asian Games to the OCA. 2015 September 16, at the 34th Congress of the Asian Olympic Council held in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, Hangzhou, as the only bidding city, was proposed by the bidding delegation.
On behalf of the Chinese Olympic Committee, Liu Peng first solemnly recommended Hangzhou's bid to host the 19 Asian Games to the OCA. On behalf of the Hangzhou Municipal Government and Hangzhou citizens, Zhang Hongming expressed Hangzhou's determination, ability and expectation to host the Asian Games. The bidding delegation made a bid presentation to the Olympic Council of Asia, broadcast a promotional film for the Olympic bid and answered questions from members of the Olympic Council of Asia;
Luo Xuejuan and Jin Jianhang, President of Ali Group, spoke on behalf of athletes and Hangzhou enterprises respectively; Chen Yongxin introduced Hangzhou and its organizational ability in English. Finally, Zheng Jiwei made a concluding speech. He solemnly promised that the Zhejiang provincial government would support Hangzhou in hosting the 19 Asian Games.
After the presentation, Hangzhou won more than half of the votes of 45 members of the Olympic Council of Asia. Prince Ahmed, President of the Olympic Council of Asia, announced that Hangzhou, China won the right to host the 19 Asian Games. Hangzhou became the third China city to host the Asian Games after Beijing and Guangzhou.
There are 56 competition venues in Hangzhou Asian Games and Asian Para Games, which are located in Hangzhou, Ningbo, Wenzhou, Huzhou, Shaoxing and Jinhua according to the principle of "Hangzhou main venue is shared by the whole province". Among them, there are 0/2 new venues/KLOC-0, 26 rebuilt venues, 9 continued venues and 9 temporary venues. There are also 3 1 training venues, 1 Asian Games Village and 4 Asian Games Villages.
On September 16, 2023, at the opening ceremony of the Asian Games Village in Hangzhou 19 and the welcoming ceremony of the China sports delegation, the Asian Games Village in Hangzhou was officially opened with the sound of gongs and drums, which marked the simultaneous opening of the Asian Games Village, five Asian Games Villages and three athletes' accommodation hotels.
The torch relay of Hangzhou Asian Games started from Jinyong Park near Hangzhou West Lake on September 8, and passed through Huzhou, Jiaxing, Shaoxing, Ningbo, Zhoushan, Taizhou, Wenzhou, Lishui, Jinhua and Quzhou one city a day, and returned to Hangzhou on September 20.
