Brief introduction of Lingquan Temple

Longquan Mountain, located in Liang Zi Lake, Jiangxia District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, has beautiful scenery. It is a treasure house for building temples, a holy place for holiday tourism, and one of the temples with a long history in Wuhan and even Central China.

Longquan Mountain, from Han, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties to Sui Dynasty, was named Jiangxia Mountain.

In the early Tang dynasty, it was called "Jiashan", which means the road where two mountains intersect.

At the end of Tianbao in the Tang Dynasty, the prime minister of the dynasty began to build houses, dig for springs and form two wells in the east and west. It is sunny when the east well is angry, and rainy when the west well is not angry, which is accurate, so it is called Lingquan Mountain.

After the Song Dynasty, it was renamed Longquan Mountain.

The first Hubei Pharmacist Buddha Culture Festival was hosted by Hubei Buddhist Association and hosted by Lingquan Temple in Wuhan. Since the Western Han Dynasty, some civil servants, military commanders, hermits and poets in Longquan Mountain have moved into the valley of Lingquan, built pavilions, gardens and lotus ponds, made mountaineering poems and wrote many poems with endless charm.

Known as "Xanadu, Land of Poetry".

According to Lingquan's records, there are "Songting Pavilion, Yuantiaoting Pavilion, Daguan Bridge, Wanjuan Bookstore, Lotus Pond, Dragon and Tortoise Play Fish Pond, Luchun Pavilion, Wanshoutai, Qingyujing, Ruizhitang, Baiyunwo, Lingquan Temple and Qin Si" in the 7.6-square-kilometer mountain basin.

Lingquan Temple, located at the eastern foot of Yuping Peak, is one of the temples with a long history in Wuhan. It was built in 749 AD and destroyed in Ming and Qing Dynasties.

A famous monk in Guling Spring Temple, Xiao Ran, is from Jiangdu (Yangzhou, Jiangsu), and his common name is Li Mingdong.

He studied Confucianism since childhood and was proficient in the Six Classics. In the sixth year of Emperor Taizong (A.D. 747), his father Li Yong (an outstanding writer in the Tang Dynasty and a satrap in Beihai) was victimized by traitors, and Dong Li was forced to flee to Longquan Mountain with his brother to live in seclusion, taking grass as his home.
