How to check the body temperature?

The body temperature of a healthy person is between 36-37.4℃ (underarm), and if it exceeds this range, it is a fever. Below 38℃ is a low fever, and above 39℃ is a high fever.

Key points of operation

1. When measuring body temperature, first throw the mercury column on the thermometer below 35 degrees, then wipe it with cotton dipped in alcohol, and then use it after disinfection.

2. When measuring the temperature under the liquid, first wipe off the sweat under the armpit, then put the mercury end of the thermometer in the center of the armpit and take it out after 10 minutes.

3. When measuring anus temperature, it is best to use anus thermometer. When measuring the temperature, slowly insert it into the anus for 3-4 cm. It is best to extend the measurement time slightly. Specify a measure of 3 minutes 1 minute; Five minutes takes three minutes to measure. Wash with strong soapy water after use. However, patients with diarrhea and constipation should not apply this method.

Measuring oral temperature is more accurate than underarm temperature. First of all, the thermometer should be washed clean, and the mercury part should be soaked in cold water before being put into the mouth. Put the thermometer on the tip of your tongue, and gently close your mouth and don't talk when measuring your temperature.

5. When reading the thermometer value, slowly rotate the thermometer horizontally and observe the temperature scale displayed by the mercury column in the horizontal position.

Matters needing attention

1. If you have a fever in the afternoon, you must take the exam again in the evening and get up the next morning.

2. The measured body temperature should be recorded and provided to the doctor for correct diagnosis and treatment.

It is best to disinfect with 75% alcohol after the body temperature is used up. The thermometers used by patients with infectious diseases should be disinfected.
