Hello, leaders, the topic of my speech today is "Supporting a fair and just sky".
Looking through the 5,000-year-old picture of China, people have been calling for a common goal for thousands of years, that is, fairness and justice! In order to get an explanation, simple and kind people persistently pursue such a simple and complicated word-fairness and justice, from the crime of Prince Edward and Shu Ren in Bao Long's Anger at Chen Shimei to the Story of Autumn Chrysanthemum.
Here I don't mention Ren Changxia, a good policeman who punishes evil and promotes good; Song Yushui, a female judge who is fair enough for the masses to "win or lose"; Not to mention Shang, the "judge mother" who saved many teenagers with fairness and justice as usual. Today, I'm going to tell you how our Bali Middle School holds up a fair and just sky for students.
Law has always been regarded as an art and tool to safeguard and promote fairness and justice. Law-abiding is to safeguard social fairness and justice, while crime is against fairness and justice. Therefore, our school has always regarded the prevention of juvenile delinquency as the focus of legal education. For many years, there has not been a criminal case of juvenile public security in our school. We carry out lectures, competitions, keynote speeches and other forms of legal knowledge publicity, and use campus radio stations and wall newspaper columns and other media to vigorously publicize legal knowledge. At the beginning and end of each semester, we always insist on regularly hiring authoritative experts from public security and legal departments to give legal reports to teachers and students. Experts use vivid cases to convince students of legal dignity and untouchability. We organized students to visit Yangzhou detention center. The students were deeply shocked to see the painful scene that the reeducation-through-labor personnel were punished for illegal crimes and restricted their freedom by education and correction. After returning to school, a boy in our school who often fights and is out of control wrote in his diary: We should cherish everything we have, grasp the direction of life, and not regret forever. If we violate the law and trample on social justice, what awaits us can only be the lack of freedom and the condemnation of conscience.
Educational equity is the extension and embodiment of social equity in the field of education. In order to make every student, especially the children of disadvantaged groups, enjoy the right to education fairly, our school has fully implemented the care project to create a good environment for the healthy growth of "left-behind students", "students with learning difficulties" and "poor students". Based on the principle of "being responsible for all students and not letting anyone fall behind", we set up a help group to help students with learning difficulties solve their learning problems after school and during holidays. So far, nearly 200 students with learning difficulties have been transformed, enabling them to successfully enter a higher-level school for further study. At the same time, our school has established a trinity management network of school, family and society, and visited "left-behind students" for nearly 400 times, so that they can develop healthily like other students without the supervision of guardians. Teachers can't remember how much spare time they spent tutoring helpers and how many holidays passed quietly from teachers and students' classes.
What's more worth mentioning is that our school gives nearly 30 thousand yuan in relief and subsidies to "poor students" every year. We also raised funds from various sources and set up an "inspirational scholarship" for Bali Middle School to reward poor students who study hard. In recent years, no one has dropped out of school because of poverty. Every day on the campus of Bali Middle School, we will see a limping thin figure. The girl's name is Sun Xiaoting. Because of polio, her leg fell and she was disabled. Her family is extremely poor, and her parents do odd jobs everywhere to make ends meet. Knowing her situation, the school did not stand by. We immediately reduced all her tuition and fees and gave her free meals in the school cafeteria. Yin Ting knew and refused. We understand that this is a very independent child. She usually goes upstairs and downstairs. Others only need two minutes, but she needs ten minutes or more. But she never allows others to help her, no matter how difficult it is, she has to go by herself. How could such an excellent student let her drop out of school because of poverty? Unable to take care of her self-esteem, we discussed with her mother and said that her mother had paid for the food. Her teachers also gave her study and daily necessities in the form of rewarding progress and encouraged her to continue her efforts. For two years, we have been using this white lie to support her with a love umbrella of equal education with others.
Due to the immaturity of physical and mental development, the limitation of social experience and the sharp increase of learning pressure, some students on campus have psychological confusion and even psychological obstacles. In order to enable them to study and live healthily like other students, our school has set up a special psychological counseling room. As long as students need it, our psychological counseling teachers will patiently and meticulously help them find out the problems. At the same time, we must strictly keep secrets, effectively protect students' privacy, and ensure that they are not discriminated against by others. Since its establishment, the psychological counseling room has successfully intervened in four cases of students leaving home, dismissed the idea of one person committing suicide, transformed more than 30 particularly rebellious students, decompressed nearly 60 students with excellent academic performance but excessive pressure, and successfully admitted them to four-star key high schools. When angelic smiles return to their once gloomy faces, and when groups of happy games replace the once lonely games, we are deeply gratified. For the healthy growth of every child, it is worthwhile to be tired again.
"Every man is responsible for the rise and fall of the world", and maintaining social fairness and justice requires the efforts of the whole society. While we are eager for a fair and just environment, we should also shoulder the social responsibility of maintaining fairness and justice. We just start from the ordinary things around us, practice, consciously abide by various systems and rules, be kind to others, sympathize with and help the weak. We believe that only if everyone does this, the fair and just spring we are looking forward to will come.
The efforts made by our Bali Middle School are only a microcosm of the whole society's maintenance of fairness and justice. We are convinced that today we sow the seedlings of fairness and justice in students' hearts with actions, and tomorrow this seedling will surely become the pillar to support social fairness and justice.
