What is the key point of aged care?

The key point of geriatric nursing is to diagnose and deal with the reaction of the elderly to their own existence and potential health problems.

Background:

Population aging has become the focus of global attention, and the rapid aging has attracted great attention from our party, government and all walks of life. China Health Action has focused on "Health Promotion Action for the Elderly", and two ministries and commissions have issued three documents specifically on improving care for the elderly.

Content:

Firstly, the general situation and related theories of geriatric nursing are described, so that students can understand the biological theory related to aging and its application in nursing. The second is about the comprehensive health assessment and physical function assessment of the elderly; The third is about the nursing of senile syndrome and the nursing of the elderly.

The fourth is about the characteristics and nursing of common chronic diseases in the elderly, as well as the nursing of hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes, stroke, Parkinson's disease and osteoporosis in the elderly. The fifth is to talk about the mental health and psychological disorder nursing of the elderly.

The purpose of geriatric nursing:

It is not simply to prolong the life span of human beings, but to use the knowledge of gerontology to carry out the prevention and treatment of senile diseases, provide health education to the elderly, guide their daily life and physical exercise, improve their health awareness and self-care ability, prolong their healthy life span, improve their quality of life, and provide satisfactory medical and health care services for the elderly.

Skin characteristics and nursing care of the elderly;

1, skin characteristics:

The skin of the elderly is wrinkled, loose and thin, and the so-called "bags under the eyes" appear on the lower eyelids. The skin is dry, flaky and rough, sebaceous glands are atrophied and their functions are weakened. The surface sensory functions of skin such as touch, pain and temperature are also weakened, the reactivity of skin surface is reduced, the defense ability against bad stimuli is weakened, and the damage of immune system is often accompanied by aging, which completely reduces the skin resistance.

2, skin care:

Old people should pay attention to maintaining skin hygiene in their daily lives. Bathing can remove dirt, keep pores unobstructed, and help prevent skin diseases. It is recommended to take a bath twice a week in winter and warm water every day in summer. Proper water temperature can promote the blood circulation of the skin, improve metabolism and delay the aging process.

But at the same time, we should also pay attention to avoid scalding and catching cold. It is suggested that the bath room temperature should be adjusted to 24-26℃ and the water temperature should be around 40℃. The bath time should be 10- 15 minutes, and accidents such as chest tightness and syncope will occur if the bath time is too long. Pay attention to avoid the stimulation of alkaline soap when taking a bath. Weakly acidic boric acid soap and sheep fat soap should be selected to keep the skin pH at about 5.5.

The bath towel should be soft and gently rubbed when washing to prevent damage to the stratum corneum.
