Four principles of healthy eating

Principle 1: light and nutritious. Summer diet should be light, soft and easy to digest, such as mung bean porridge, lotus seed porridge and lotus leaf porridge. Eat less high-fat spicy food that is easy to get angry. A light diet can clear away heat, prevent heatstroke, stop sweating, replenish water and stimulate appetite. It is recommended to eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, and eat some lean meat, eggs, milk, fish and bean products appropriately to ensure adequate nutrition.

Principle 2: it is better to make up for it than to suffer hardships. Chinese medicine believes that all bitter vegetables have the function of clearing away heat and relieving summer heat. The best food for clearing away heat and relieving summer bitterness is bitter gourd, which can be boiled in soup or washed with salt and sesame oil.

Principle 3: Eat more acid when sweating. Because of sweating in summer, it is easy to lose body fluids. It is suggested to eat less spicy food and increase the intake of sour food, such as tomatoes, lemons, grapes, hawthorn, pineapples, mangoes and kiwis. Sour food can not only astringe sweat and dispel dampness, but also promote fluid production to quench thirst, strengthen stomach and promote digestion. For people who like to eat cold food in summer, it is suggested to season with vinegar, which can not only increase appetite, but also sterilize and reduce gastrointestinal symptoms.

Principle 4: Pay attention to dispelling summer heat and dampness. Due to the hot and rainy weather in summer, moisture can easily invade the human body, which will make people fidgety, tired, lose appetite and easily induce adverse reactions such as nausea and vomiting. It is suggested to eat some foods such as mung beans and lotus seeds to relieve summer heat and dampness, so as to strengthen the stomach and relieve summer heat.
