Guangxi people have always used indigenous methods to grow Shatian pomelo, and there has been no big breakthrough in cultivation for hundreds of years. In addition, the environment, climate, soil and other external conditions were pure in the past, and there was no man-made pollution. Shatian pomelo also grows naturally. Although it is not big, it tastes delicious. Meizhou people introduced Shatian pomelo from Rongxian County, Guangxi Province, seized the opportunity, brought forth the old and brought forth the new, introduced foreign high-tech and improved new varieties of Shatian pomelo that were easier to grow, which made a new breakthrough in its growth and development. From 65438 to 0985, Meizhou government mobilized farmers to plant Shatian pomelo. Two years later, the effect was immediate, and Shatian pomelo production base blossomed everywhere. No one expected that in just two years, the largest Shatian pomelo production base in China was born in this humble little mountain city. At present, the planting area of Meizhou Golden Pomelo in Meixian District of Meizhou City alone is 200,000 mu, with an average total output value of 6.5438+0.7 million tons. If other pomelos are added, the total planting area is 400,000 mu, and the economic income of pomelos accounts for one-third of the economy in Meixian County.
