Do the elderly need a health certificate when flying?

Older people over 70 years old should have a physical examination about one week in advance when taking the flight to ensure their health and suitability for taking the flight. Physical examination should be carried out in hospitals above the county level, focusing on ECG, blood pressure, respiratory tract and other items. Although the Civil Aviation Administration has no special requirements for the age of flight attendants, airlines have made different regulations for the elderly because air flight may induce diseases such as heart disease and high blood pressure.

Spring Airlines stipulates that the elderly must provide medical certificates provided by hospitals at or above the county level within 180 days when purchasing tickets. The medical certificate must include ECG, blood pressure and respiratory examination and be signed and sealed by the hospital.

According to the regulations of China Eastern Airlines and China United Airlines, the elderly should go to hospitals at or above the county level about one week in advance to issue a certificate of flight suitability, and the flight crew will check it when boarding.
