Polyps found on the gallbladder are also good or bad. They may be benign or malignant, and they mainly fall into two categories:
First, cholesterol polyp, the most common polyp in gallbladder, is also a benign polyp, which generally does not become cancerous. Patients with cholesterol polyps usually have no obvious symptoms, and the gallbladder is less stimulated, generally not very large. Regular monitoring is enough, and you can also choose medication according to your doctor's advice.
Second, non-cholesterol benign polyps mainly include gallbladder adenoma, adenomyoma, inflammatory polyp and adenomatous hyperplasia. Although gallbladder adenoma is benign, it also has a 30% risk of canceration. If adenomatous polyp of gallbladder occurs, it should be monitored in time, which may induce gallbladder cancer, and cholecystectomy should be performed as soon as possible.
If you are worried about cholecystitis and cancer, you are most worried about polypoid early gallbladder adenocarcinoma. This kind of cancer generally needs to pass CT examination, and it is difficult to find it by B-ultrasound alone. If abnormal gallbladder is found, surgical treatment should be done in time. But as far as clinical medicine is concerned, benign polyps still account for the majority. Just like the patients mentioned above, benign polyps do not need any special treatment before they exceed 1 cm, so they should be observed and examined frequently. If the polyp continues to grow in the later stage, surgery is needed.
Does gallbladder polyp need surgery? Can traditional Chinese medicine be treated conservatively?
I have many patients with gallbladder polyps. The first sentence when I came to see a doctor: "Dr. Zhang, can I not have surgery?"
So why do gallbladder polyps need surgery? Because gallbladder polyps develop rapidly, it is very dangerous once they become cancerous!
So why don't patients want to have surgery? Because at present, strictly speaking, gallbladder polyp surgery needs to completely remove the gallbladder, patients are afraid of surgery, worried about the decline of postoperative quality of life, and even increase the risk of intestinal cancer.
So is traditional Chinese medicine conservative treatment effective for gallbladder polyps? The curative effect of my patients here can be divided into several types: some patients have gallbladder polyps reduced or even disappeared after taking the medicine, and it will be effective in half a month, while some patients are slow. There was a patient whose gallbladder polyps were all 1.4cm. I recommended him for surgery. He insisted on Chinese medicine treatment and the result disappeared completely in the fourth month. Some patients did not shrink the gallbladder polyps after taking Chinese medicine, but the polyps grew slowly before. The present situation of gallbladder polyps after conditioning with Chinese medicine has not developed, so we can continue to observe or even ignore it. A small number of patients, gallbladder polyps have shrunk, and they have grown up without paying attention to diet after stopping taking drugs!
So, is Chinese medicine effective for gallbladder polyps? Effective, at least beneficial! Can Chinese medicine definitely reduce gallbladder polyps? Not necessarily. Dr. Zhang Xueliang, director of the Chinese Medicine Department of Beijing Sihui West Hospital, said, I believe that every doctor with conscience will not blindly escort patients! So under what circumstances can gallbladder polyps take traditional Chinese medicine? If it is not particularly big and grows very fast, we can all try to observe it, or observe it while eating Chinese medicine, but we must control our diet and maintain good eating habits.
