Vertigo due to summer dampness: caused by exogenous dampness in summer. There are two kinds of vertigo: damp-heat vertigo and cold-dampness vertigo. Vertigo due to damp heat is characterized by dizziness, spontaneous sweating due to body heat, dirty face and cold back, polydipsia and weak pulse. Treatment should clear away summer heat and damp. According to the symptoms, White Tiger Decoction and Huanglian Xiangxieyin were selected. Vertigo due to cold and dampness is manifested as dizziness, aversion to cold, severe body pain, adverse lateral rotation and weak and slow pulse. Treating dampness and dispelling cold, the prescription is Notopterygium Shi Sheng Decoction combined with Shufu Decoction (internal and external treatment): Notopterygium Rhizoma, Radix Angelicae Pubescentis, Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata, Rhizoma Chuanxiong, Radix Saposhnikoviae and Fructus Viticis. Shufu Decoction (Atractylodes macrocephala, Radix Aconiti Lateralis Preparata, and Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata) in Huojing, or Huoxiang Zhengqi Decoction (Fang Ju: Herba Agastaches, Folium Perillae, Pericarpium Arecae, Poria, Atractylodes macrocephala, Pericarpium Citri Tangerinae, Pinellia Fermentata, Cortex Magnolia Officinalis, Radix Platycodonis, Radix Angelicae Dahuricae, and Radix Glycyrrhizae Preparata).
Heatstroke vertigo: also known as summer dizziness, summer dizziness, caused by heatstroke evil. Symptoms include dizziness, lethargy, fever, thirst, irritability, and even fainting and pulse deficiency. Treatment should relieve summer heat and dampness. Dizziness due to blood deficiency: mostly caused by blood loss, blood injury due to heat, excessive heart fire or deficiency of both heart and spleen. Dizziness, accompanied by upset, insomnia, night sweats, emaciation, red tongue and thready pulse, belongs to yin deficiency. If you are pale, mentally tired, and have palpitations, those who receive less amount belong to deficiency of both heart and spleen. Treatment should be nourishing yin and blood, or invigorating qi and generating blood. Dizziness due to yang deficiency: due to the lack of yang, clearing yang can't reach the head. Symptoms include dizziness and headache, aversion to cold, tinnitus and deafness, or dizziness, shortness of breath and spontaneous sweating, cold hands and feet, and heavy and thin pulse; Or get dizzy in the morning and decide when to shoot. Treatment should be warming yang and benefiting qi. Vertigo due to kidney deficiency: due to insufficient kidney essence, the brain marrow cannot be filled. Symptoms include dizziness, tinnitus, mental fatigue, forgetfulness and soreness of the waist and knees. Those who are afraid of cold limbs belong to kidney-yang deficiency, so they should tonify kidney and warm yang. Yougui Pill, Jingui Shenqi Pill, etc. The choice should be made according to the symptoms. Those who are upset by internal heat belong to kidney yin deficiency, and Zuogui Pill and Baizhi Dihuang Pill are selected according to the symptoms. Dizziness due to qi stagnation: mostly caused by stagnation of seven emotions and phlegm due to qi stagnation. Symptoms include depression, palpitation, occasional facial fever and forehead pain. Treatment should calm the nerves and resolve phlegm. Fourteen oil pills ("the key to syndrome treatment": Radix Rehmanniae Preparata, Semen Ziziphi Spinosae, Poria, Poria, Clam Powder, Cortex et Radix Polygalae, Radix Angelicae Sinensis, Cortex Cinnamomi, Semen Platycladi, Ziyingshi, Radix Astragali, Cinnabaris, and Longya) or Poria Decoction ("the strange prescription": Poria, Radix Angelicae Pubescentis, Radix Astragali, and Radix Polygalae) can be used.
Dizziness of liver yang: mostly caused by emotional failure, dark liver consumption and excessive liver yang. Symptoms include dizziness, headache, restless sleep, irritability and pulse. The treatment should be mainly to calm the liver and suppress yang, and the prescription is Tianma Gouteng Yin (new meaning for treating miscellaneous diseases: Gastrodia elata, Uncaria, Concha Haliotidis, Eucommia ulmoides, Motherwort, Gardenia, Scutellaria baicalensis, Achyranthes bidentata, Taxilli, Polygonum Multiflori Radix and Poria). For patients with liver-yin deficiency, they are upset, sleep less, and their tongue is red and coated less, so they should be treated with Erzhi Pill and Qijudihuang Pill. Dizziness due to liver fire: kidney water deficiency and hepatobiliary fire. Symptoms include dizziness, headache, flushing eyes, bitter taste, red tongue and rapid pulse. For those who get angry, use gentian to purge the liver, and for those who have yin deficiency, use white and yellow texture.
Phlegm-dampness vertigo: caused by phlegm and blood stasis. Symptoms are dizziness, chest tightness, nausea, obesity, white and greasy tongue coating and thready pulse. Treatment should eliminate dampness and phlegm. This prescription is modified by Banxia Baizhu Tianma Decoction combined with Erchen Decoction. Those who are partial to qi deficiency should use Liujunzi Decoction.
Phlegm-fire vertigo: due to phlegm and turbid fire, it is caused by upper Mongolia and Qingyang. Symptoms include dizziness, heavy head, anxiety and palpitation, nausea, spitting, bitter taste, red urine, yellow greasy tongue coating and slippery pulse. Shang Qing Pill (Chishui Zhu Xuan: Rhizoma Acori Graminei, Semen Ziziphi Spinosae, Arisaema cum bile, Poria, Coptidis Rhizoma, Rhizoma Pinelliae, Massa Medicata Fermentata, Pericarpium Citri Tangerinae, Bombyx Batryticatus, Indigo Naturalis, Radix Aucklandiae, Bupleuri Radix, and Bamboo Juice) and Huanglian Wendan Decoction (six-cause syndrome differentiation: Coptidis Rhizoma, Rhizoma Pinelliae, Pericarpium Citri Tangerinae, Poria, Glycyrrhizae Radix) were selected according to symptoms.
Dizziness due to spleen deficiency and phlegm retention. Symptoms include dizziness, heavy head, chest tightness, vomiting, excessive phlegm and shortness of breath. Treatment should be based on invigorating the spleen and transforming the drink. Gui Ling Zhugan Decoction, Zhimin Fuling Pill ("medical method": Pinellia ternata, Poria cocos, Fructus Aurantii, weathered mirabilite, ginger paste pills) and Erchen Decoction were selected with the symptoms.

There are similarities and differences between the above, which seems to be difficult to diagnose. In fact, as long as we start with the pulse and tongue, and focus on distinguishing between deficiency and excess, qi and blood, phlegm, wind, fire, dampness, dryness and cold, it is not difficult to achieve similarities and differences, accurate syndrome differentiation and proper application.
