What major actions have been proposed in the National Nutrition Plan?

The General Office of the State Council recently issued the National Nutrition Plan (20 17-2030) (hereinafter referred to as the Plan), which clarified the guiding ideology, basic principles, implementation strategies and major actions of national nutrition work in the coming period.

The plan points out that we should pay attention to people's health, popularize nutrition and health knowledge, optimize nutrition and health services, improve the nutrition and health system, build a nutrition and health environment, develop nutrition and health industries, pay attention to people's nutrition and health throughout their life cycle and health process, integrate nutrition into various health policies, and improve people's nutrition and health level.

According to the plan, by 2030, the nutrition regulations and standards system will be more perfect, and the nutrition work system will be more perfect. Significant progress and improvement have been made in reducing the anemia rate of the population, the growth retardation rate of children under 5 years old, controlling the overweight and obesity rate of students, and improving the awareness rate of nutrition and health knowledge of residents.

Seven implementation strategies were planned and deployed to ensure the realization of work objectives.

First, improve the standard system of nutrition laws, regulations and policies, promote the research on nutrition legislation and policies, and improve the ability to make and revise standards.

The second is to strengthen nutrition capacity building, including improving nutrition scientific research ability and attaching importance to the cultivation of nutrition talents.

The third is to strengthen the monitoring and evaluation of nutrition and food safety, regularly monitor the nutritional status of the population, and strengthen the monitoring of iodine nutrition and the prevention and treatment of iodine deficiency disorders.

The fourth is to develop the food nutrition and health industry and accelerate the nutritional transformation.

Fifth, vigorously develop traditional food and nutrition services, give full play to the role of traditional food and nutrition in modern nutrition, and guide the formation of food and nutrition habits that meet the dietary characteristics of different regions in China.

Sixth, strengthen the use of basic data on nutrition and health, and carry out information services for the benefit of the people.

Seventh, popularize nutrition and health knowledge and promote the normalization of nutrition and health science education activities.

The plan puts forward six major actions to improve people's nutrition and health.

One is 1000 nutrition and health action in early life to improve the nutrition and health level of pregnant women and infants.

Second, students' nutrition improvement actions, including guiding students to eat nutritious meals, overweight and obesity intervention, etc.

Third, the nutrition improvement action of the elderly, taking various measures to meet the nutrition improvement needs of the elderly and promote "healthy aging".

Fourth, clinical nutrition action, strengthen the nutritional diagnosis and treatment of patients and improve their nutritional status.

Fifth, nutrition intervention in poverty-stricken areas, taking intervention, prevention and control, guidance and other measures to effectively improve the nutritional status of people in poverty-stricken areas.

Sixth, the diet should be dynamically balanced, a healthy lifestyle should be advocated, and the nutritional support ability and effect of sports people should be improved.
