Mei Chuan Park, as a supporting park of Mei Chuan community, was listed as a practical project of Shanghai Municipal People's Government on 1999, located at No.2361Sivunen Road, Putuo District. Mei Chuan Park is planned by Shanghai Landscape Design Institute, designed by Putuo District Landscape Design Office and contracted by Shanghai Oasis Garden Construction Co., Ltd., with a total investment of 7.35 million yuan. 1999 started construction, and1999 officially opened to the public in February. Now Shanghai Tuoling Garden Sculpture Engineering Co., Ltd. is responsible for daily maintenance and management.
The park embodies the theme of people-oriented and green-oriented, emphasizes the harmony and unity between man and nature, adopts the method of plant landscaping, and uses more than 50 kinds of plants to form a green landscape with trees with multi-layer canopy characteristics as the skeleton and plum blossoms as the theme tree species. Among them, the varieties of plum are Chimonanthus praecox, Mume Fructus, Pearl Plum, Prunus mume, Camellia, Eucommia ulmoides, Myrica rubra and Hamamelis. In the long layout of the park, lawn and sparse forest square are two recreation spaces, and a tree-lined trail runs through the whole park, interspersed with flower beds and trees. The unique hexagonal pavilion, flower sea, and stone-piled sketches are fascinating, and the pebble health trail with a length of more than 200 meters is the best in the city. Leisure facilities such as newspaper galleries and stone benches are arranged in the park according to the scenery.
Mei Chuan Park, with its elegant and dynamic modern style, has become an ideal place for people's leisure and activities, which has played a good role in improving the ecological environment of Shanghai West Gate and the surrounding landscape of Shanghai-Nanjing Expressway.
