Can genes determine our health?

For a long time, we have been deeply influenced by "genetic determinism" and believe that many diseases come from genetic genes, and genes determine fate.

But in recent years, epigenetics, a branch of genetics, believes that although genes have been determined at birth, there is a "switch" on each gene, and as long as this switch is not activated, this gene will not be expressed. That is to say, although we can't change our genes, we can use psychological power to influence gene expression.

At present, scientists believe that external signals (such as nutrition, living environment and even thinking and emotional state) will have an impact on the body's regulation of protein, and the regulation of protein determines how to express, or even whether to express, the genetic information contained in DNA. This discovery has weakened our sense of powerlessness about "genes determine fate" to a certain extent, and inspired us that the happiness of our personal life will affect the expression of DNA, which in turn will affect our health.

The physiological state of human body is a game between "believing that you will recover" and "thinking that you will get sick". Therefore, we should actively change our thoughts and behaviors, and then change our biochemical indicators to create a healthier life for ourselves.
