Class 259 Huang
After more than ten hours' flight, we arrived at our destination Hastings and started our four-day overseas family life.
I ate the legendary fish &; French fries, all fried, taste ordinary ... eat toast in the morning and spread a layer of soy sauce. It tastes strange. All the children here bring their own lunches to school, so we make our own sandwiches and take them to school with a big ice cream box. I went to a girls' high school. In the morning, I attended the Maori welcoming ceremony. The girls are dressed in traditional clothes. Although it is winter, they are barefoot, wearing skirts and sleeveless tops! Their dance is beautiful, and so are their songs. They also taught us to play Maori games, dance Maori kaha and Maori songs. Everyone is very happy and enjoying the morning tea prepared for us. All morning ~
I am full and go back to school. After listening to half a class, it was lunch time. My companion finished the sandwich she brought in the morning and went to buy bread, but she refused to accept my sandwich.
The school here has five classes a day, starting at 8: 30 in the morning, one class for one hour, starting at 2: 0010 in the afternoon, and ending at 3: 0010 as long as there is one class. I really envy them. Their classes are very free, and there is a very free way of communication between students and teachers. They don't need to raise their hands, they can express their opinions at will. They don't sleep at noon, but do sports. They like playing ball very much, such as basketball. The difference is that they don't have rebounds and their pitching skills are more demanding.
After school, I hurried to catch the school bus. The school bus here is different from Guilin. There are several school buses taking different routes to pick up all the students who need to take this route.
In the evening, people at home always talk to themselves, but they don't talk to me. After supper, I wash the dishes. Although there is a dishwasher at home, I still have to wash the dishes before washing them. This is the most I have done these days. Other people at home chat and watch TV, and no one comes to help me ... I really doubt if I am a guest ... This is also the difference between foreign countries and China. They think that work is a normal thing, no matter what it is.
The temperature here changes greatly in the morning and evening. In the morning, they only wear one coat at noon. In shops, they seldom see thick clothes for sale, and many shops sell summer clothes. Their companions say that they wear very little all the year round. Indeed, they have never seen down jackets along the way, but many of them wear shorts and short sleeves ... the price here is very interesting. I like it very much. There are 99 cents left, and there are very few integers. The cashier's change is really troublesome.
A few days' journey soon ended, and Hastings left a deep impression on me. The environment here is very good, and tap water can be drunk directly. Cars come and go on the road, always let other cars go first; The people here are very enthusiastic, that is to say, strangers will say hello naturally; People here love sports, whether at noon or at night. I can always see someone running.
I learned a lot from this visit and learned the differences between China and foreign countries in many places. We should learn from each other and make progress together.
Hastings impression
Class week 272
Quiet, quiet, this is my deepest impression of Hastings. Living here for four days will be a precious memory that I will never forget.
Hastings has a pure and illusory sky, warm and friendly people and fresh and green grass. There is no turbidity and noise in big cities, only simplicity and quietness in small towns. There are no tall buildings here, but there are villas. I like to sit in the car and enjoy the retrogressive street view on the roadside, because every villa here is like a carefully drawn work of art, either lovely, atmospheric, exquisite or dreamy. Every family has all kinds of plants with different shapes, but they are full of vitality.
Looking further away, it is full of green. The grass is light green, dotted with dew; The mountain is dark green, shining with golden light in the bright sunshine. There are flocks of lovely sheep on the grass, sitting or running, or chewing tender grass in their mouths. At the end of the grassland are rolling mountains, which are not as beautiful and steep as those in Guilin. This is a kind of natural beauty, with the gentleness of Mother Earth. When I stand at the top of the mountain, facing the cold wind and looking at the magnificent scenery under the cliff, I think it is a heroic beauty. Looking at the other side of the mountain, this endless mountain is like a layer of grass clothes, and the hillside slowly extends downward. Occasionally, you can see a few sheep grazing on the hillside with their lambs. The sense of heroism disappears instantly, and a soft sense of intimacy arises spontaneously. Two completely different feelings, but I think it's so natural.
The clouds in the sky are blue and white, and can be clearly distinguished. Obviously, in the dazzling sunshine, it is a biting cold wind. Hastings is such a magical town, but it has bred a group of simple people to live a leisurely life here.
My host family lives on the mountain. They planted many trees on the hill next to the house and raised some cows and alpacas. Go home from work at three o'clock every day, take care of trees, feed cows, and have nothing to do with cats and dogs in Doby, or play hockey with my family on the court. On weekends, the family drove to the seaside to blow the sea breeze, pick up shells and run along the beach with their dogs. This is the life I have been longing for, and I have experienced it here as I wish. Although it was only three days, I fell in love with this happy family and this quiet town.
If I am tired of the competitive life one day when I grow up, I will definitely come back here and feel the tranquility of this town again.
Instructions for going abroad
Class 267 Huang Jining
About to step into a foreign country, there is a bit of excitement mixed with a bit of sadness of parting. Immature us, we have eager curiosity about another life in another hemisphere, and want to experience the blue sea and blue sky there, the comfort there, and the strange secrets there immediately. With all kinds of good feelings, we are on our way.
Urban village
Hastings is like a beautiful manor with buildings inside and apple orchards around it. Under the apple tree, sheep are taking a leisurely walk. When they are hungry and tired, they will take a nap in the shade. Every building has an unusual happiness story; Almost every family has a garden, which belongs to a family. Strangely, there are few pedestrians in the street during the day, and later I learned that everyone uses cars instead of walking. The night there was dark early, and the city, which was not too noisy, became a dignified lady and went to sleep quietly. At this time, climbing the giant mountain can overlook the night view of Hastings. The ground is brightly lit, and the stars in the sky complement each other and are relaxed and happy. This is a friendly city, just like people here, hospitable, cheerful and enthusiastic. Living here is particularly dull and so quiet.
Magical dance steps
The haka performed by students in New Zealand schools is really unforgettable. The so-called Kaha, the dance of the indigenous Maori in New Zealand, also comes from the group dance against the enemy before the battle. The first time I saw them perform Haka was at the opening ceremony on the first day, which really scared us. I saw them beating their chests, glaring at the audience with their fingers in their hair, and their eyes were chapped. The main action is to hit the ground with your fist and beat your chest with your palm, just like Mount Tai. Every time I push so hard, it hurts when I look at it, which means "my fist falls and I cry loudly", and the New Zealand Aboriginal language shouted by the leading boy is also earth-shattering.
Warm everyone.
The most unforgettable day is family time in New Zealand. Warm family, delicious food, hearty laughter ... before dinner, we hold hands and pray for God's generosity, thank the world for its beauty and wish the future happiness. Interestingly, I helped bake a big pig's trotters. I saw a frozen red leg of pig, which we cleaned, washed and put in the oven. Baked for 4 hours and baked one.
In the moonlight, I scooped up the clearest cup; In the afterglow, I hold a ray of the warmest; Burning red leaves, I picked up the hottest one; I picked a bunch of the most colorful herbs; I often think that I have been to a beautiful place-New Zealand.

Those days in Hastings
(5-9 August 2009)
Eating acceptable western food, drinking pure milk that China can't taste, sleeping in a surprisingly soft bed, having a relaxing class in the afternoon, and having no homework. Walking on the road will make people look at the unique scenery of China and enjoy the hospitality of Hastings. How leisurely ... ..
{the first day}
_ _ Napier Airport
It was dusk when we arrived in Napier, and a fiery red cloud appeared in the sky. Beautiful clouds seem to welcome us.
I was greeted by an old lady, a German girl and a Japanese girl. They are all beautiful and their English is great.
It was stressful to talk to them at first. I thought it was awkward for the Japanese to speak English, but when she started speaking English fluently, her pronunciation sounded good. This makes me panic even more. I said a few words and found that they were all grammatical mistakes. Even they said it. They always ask me questions as if they were all curious about me. Sitting in the car, I didn't know what to ask, so I didn't ask

Dragging some heavy luggage, I walked into the room with a chill. On my right is my room, a neat and clean room, a beautiful dresser, with floral sheets, chocolates and welcome cards on the bed. When I sat on the bed, I found that the bed was surprisingly soft and there was no spring sound.
After I packed my luggage, grandma came to invite me to dinner.
Take the food from the kitchen to the hall with TV, and sit on the sofa and watch TV news that you don't understand at all.
Dinner is spaghetti with a strong western flavor. I said it was because I didn't think it was delicious. So I ate slowly, took a few bites and found that they had finished eating and went to the kitchen to wash the dishes. Come on.
After dinner, I returned to the hall and found that only my grandmother and her husband were watching TV. I went over and sat next to them, trying to say something, but I still didn't know how to start. Fortunately, grandma spoke first, asked me about Guilin and my family, and told me about her family. I began to relax slowly and enjoy English conversation. Later, she showed me around her home, a big house.
When I returned to my room, I found that it was only after 8 o'clock, and it was after 4 o'clock in Beijing time. How can I sleep?
So I took a shower, sat on the bed, kept a diary, read a book and fell asleep. ..
{The next day}
_ _ school
Wrapped in a down jacket, I came to Hastings Girls' High School. Although it is winter, the school lawn is still very bright green. The whole city is nothing like the color of winter.
The students are very friendly. They will say good morning to us. I like this feeling.
_ _ Maori Hall
The students in the girls' middle school performed a welcoming ceremony in Maori for us, and the patriarch delivered a speech in English. I didn't even know what it meant in the end.
I listened to beautiful songs, learned the Maori dance "Blake Kaha", ate delicious morning tea, played interesting games, and sang unfamiliar "Folk Songs for Relatives Only" and "Auld Lang Syne".
_ _ school
It's noon and the sun is shining. When I took off my down jacket and wore only a shirt and sweater, I felt a little hot.
At noon, there is no feeling of winter at all.
Then I had a health class that I didn't understand. I looked up the words I didn't understand in my notebook with an electronic dictionary and tried to understand them. In the end, I can only really understand part of it.
_ _ On the way home
Because this is a small city, they have to walk home. It seems that they know many people. Say hello all the way, the whole city is covered with trees. There are lawns along the road, and there are grass that is allowed to step on everywhere. It is soft and comfortable.
Every house is a cottage. No two buildings are exactly the same. Looking at these houses, you can imagine how carefree their lives are. Before passing by every house, I always feel that I can see them drinking freshly ground coffee in the afternoon when the sun is about to set. I sat by the window, watching the passing cars and writing a mood diary. I live without stress and worry.
{Day 3}
_ _ Parliament Hall
I met with Mayor Hastings with a little nervousness and excitement. The mayor is very enthusiastic. He communicated with us in simple English and gave us gifts.
Visit the parliament hall, take the mayor's seat, and return to the mayor's addiction. There is piano accompaniment next to it. It's really pleasant.
_ _ school
Back to school, it's time for lunch. Today, I ate a sandwich that a Japanese girl taught me to make yesterday. It is really unique.
The last class was English, and they said it was boring. They studied the script and the free translation of some words. It can be seen that it was really boring. The teacher just handed out an exercise book and a few pieces of paper to fill in, and sat on it without talking. They filled in all the blanks on the paper below and began to do their work. This is a free classroom.
_ _ Shopping
I came to a big supermarket and looked at a wide range of goods. I didn't know how to start. Luckily, I was recommended by my partner and chose what I wanted. Then I went to a pizza place called Domino's and took three boxes home to eat.
_ _ Home Page
Later, four children ate three boxes, and I only ate three boxes. They ate all the rest.
I went back to my room and looked out of the window through the glass. There were countless stars in the night sky, which is the most I have ever seen.
{Day 4}
On the weekend morning, there was ice on the plants and windows outside. Everyone goes out in coats, scarves and gloves.
We are no exception. We arrived at the stadium after 8 o'clock and watched a netball, similar to basketball.
After reading it, I finally understood the rules of the game. Technical content is not as high as basketball. At least the basket is overhead.
Although I wear a lot of clothes, I can't stand the cold morning in winter. It wasn't long before my toes froze. The fully charged camera also showed low battery, so I quickly got my pocket back.
Game over, continue to get on the bus and go to the seaside.
Just near the seaside, the smell of the sea comes to the nose. Mixed with the cries of seagulls. There is a feeling of being in heaven. There is no noisy metropolis, only the harmony between plants and animals. These were immediately recorded by the camera.
We drove along the seaside, and I was amazed by the scenery along the way. This is only a small coastal city, but the roads and docks are very orderly and well planned, which makes me marvel at the orderliness and meticulousness of foreigners.
I went to eat an authentic steak at noon, and I was satisfied after a full meal.
Then I went to a small aquarium and saw all kinds of fish. Of course, I also saw a live kiwi. It's a pity that I can't take pictures or record them with a flash.
After a day's shopping, I went home and lay down and slept comfortably.
I woke up and found, ah, I'm leaving tomorrow. I really can't bear to part with this life and these friendly friends.
{Day 5}
After packing, I rushed to the airport and still walked along the seaside. Seascape has always attracted my attention.
After arriving at the airport, I met my long-lost friend. They greeted each other warmly and exchanged their feelings about life these days.
The plane came, boarded the plane, hugged each other with their families, and turned around and boarded the plane. The tears that had been swirling in their eyes for a long time finally fell. I really can't bear it.
