The 4th China Bio-industry Conference with the theme of "Innovating Bio-economic Environment and Cultivating Strategic Emerging Industries" was held in Jinan Shungeng International Convention and Exhibition Center from June 6th to June 20th. During the meeting, the awarding ceremony of national high-tech industrialization demonstration projects in the biological field, the signing ceremony of major projects, high-level forums, 10 special forums, symposiums of experts and academicians, large-scale professional exhibitions, and matchmaking meetings between technology enterprises, banks and enterprises were also held. Leaders from several ministries, officials from the EU and OECD, 17 national societies and associations, and more than 200 academicians, experts and scholars attended the meeting. Representatives from various provinces, municipalities, autonomous regions and national bio-industrial bases, as well as many foreign institutions and multinational enterprises also attended the meeting. More than 5000 guests and representatives attended the meeting.
In order to share the development achievements of China's bio-industry and understand the latest information of bio-industry at home and abroad, Shandong Agricultural University organized more than 80 relevant experts and graduate students to attend the conference, visit the achievement exhibition, participate in the special forum and put forward reasonable suggestions.
On June 19, the symposium of academicians of the 4th China Bio-industry Conference was held in Shandong Building. Academician of China Academy of Engineering, leader of wheat expert guidance group of Ministry of Agriculture, and professor of Shandong Agricultural University were invited to attend and speak, analyzed the production situation of wheat and corn in Shandong Province, and suggested that scientific and technological strength and financial resources should be concentrated, and a joint research team for breeding new varieties of different crops in the province should be established to jointly tackle key problems and combine biotechnology with conventional technology to breed new varieties of crops that meet the needs of our province.
Vice Governor Jia Wanzhi presided over the forum. Zhang Chaochao, director of the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, introduced the general situation of bio-industry development in our province and the focus of future work. Academician Yu, Guan Huashi of China Academy of Engineering, Professor of China Academy of Medical Sciences, and Deputy Director of Science and Technology Administration of China Academy of Agricultural Sciences attended and made speeches, offering suggestions and suggestions on the development of biological breeding, biopharmaceuticals, health science and technology, and marine biological industry. Leaders of relevant provincial departments, Tsinghua University professors Cao Zhuan and Luo, East China University of Science and Technology professor Zhang Siliang, Taishan scholar and Shandong Agricultural University professor Kong Lingrang, Dean of School of Life Sciences of Shandong University Qu and representatives from 40 enterprises and institutions attended the forum.
According to reports, there are 48 biotechnology research and development institutions at or above the provincial level and 6 key laboratories in the field of biotechnology at or above the provincial level in Shandong. There are more than10.3 million scientific and technical personnel engaged in biotechnology research and development in the province. In 2008, the province obtained 1.27 invention patents and 1.83 scientific and technological achievements above the provincial level.
Shandong's industrial development has formed a significant comparative advantage. First, the overall advantages of the biomedical industry are outstanding. In recent years, the output value of biomedicine (excluding medical device industry) has increased by about 30%, reaching 654.38+0369 billion yuan in 2009. Second, the characteristics of biological breeding are obvious. It is the first in China to breed three series of new insect-resistant cotton varieties: insect-resistant hybrid cotton, conventional insect-resistant cotton and insect-resistant short-season cotton, forming the largest group of excellent cattle and sheep embryo transfer in China. Third, the bio-manufacturing industry has a considerable scale. The deep processing capacity of corn and soybean ranks first in China, and it has formed the largest production base of functional sugar, amino acid, hyaluronic acid and compound enzyme preparation in China. Fourth, the research and development and industrialization of marine life are leading the country. In 2008, the output value of marine biological industry reached 654.38+04.35 billion yuan, ranking first in China. In addition, bio-energy industry and bio-environmental protection industry have been well developed.
