The word "Lahua" is the name given to the roles of young and middle-aged women in certain dances in our province (e.g., "Wanquan Social Fire" and "Dongsi Yangge Drum"). However, in Jingfu County, it is used as a special name for a type of dance. The origin of this name cannot be found today.
The formation of the artistic style of Lahua is closely linked to the geography and economic history of Jingfu County. Defile County is the central part of our province to the throat of Shanxi Province, the mountains are dangerous and the water is bad, since ancient times for the soldiers must fight for the place. Chu and Han fought each other, Han Xin defeated Zhao army with fewer than many here, and the allusion of "backwater battle" is out of this. Historically, the people of Jingfu suffered from natural disasters and military calamities. Especially "the end of Yuan and the beginning of Ming Dynasty, the world is in great chaos, the people of Jingfuzu survived only four or five of ten" (see Qing Yongzheng eight years, "Jingfuzu County Records"). In addition, it is located in the deep mountains, transportation is inconvenient, the land is barren, it is a "no clothing and picking chapter of the different" and "no flowers and rare choices", and even "food and clothing and taxes" are Even the "clothing and food taxes" are "not enough to take the office" of the poor mountain township (see Republic of China 23rd year of the "Defile County Records"). In the event of natural or man-made disasters, men, women and children would go into exile, and even in normal years, young and strong men would go out to make a living, and many families would not be able to have a reunion all year round. This special natural and historical environment has cultivated the pure and tough psychological quality of the people in Jingfu. The artistic style of Lahua dance is the display of this psychological quality.
