Zhang Zhixiang's Related Experiences

When the Founding Ceremony was about to begin on Oct. 1, 1949, Zhang Zhixiang stood on the west side of the Tiananmen Square Citadel and waved a red silk to the conductor of the military band as Chairman Mao stepped onto the last flight of steps, and the music of "The East is Red" was played to start the Founding Ceremony.
