The annual Natong is a collective event with each rural community as the main focus. It can be held by one village alone or jointly by two villages until the 15th day of the 9th month of the lunar calendar, traveling from the east to the west and finally back to the central region. Most often, two villages are combined into one, with one village being the "host" and the other the guest. The two villages line up. People carry colorful flags, beat gongs and drums, and shout "Yes!"
Meeting in the wheat field outside the main square village is the most enthusiastic and exciting moment: dozens of drums sound like thunder, and accompanied by the steady beat of the drums, the athletes jump in front of the rough soprano voice, displaying their health and beauty.
As soon as the team arrived at the wheat field, it kicked off. The dance started first. It was a large dance for forty or fifty people. The young and the old were lined up in order, and the old men in long skirts and fans stood at the front of the dance. They are usually the organizers and transmitters of the Naton dance. Though they are in their 60s, with silver beards hanging down their chests and dancing with their hands, they are still so relaxed and strong.
The young men carry flags, and one by one the children follow with sticks. They turn and dance around the field. The dance moves were not complicated, but the neat steps and harmonious movements with rhythmic drums and gongs were beautiful. During the dance, the host kept on toasting the participants with sea bowls to keep them happy. People were mesmerized by the dance, and there was a crescendo of joy and delight. The lively meal naturally became a good time to visit friends and relatives. Early in the morning, we can see men, women, old and young, dressed in new clothes, a large group of carts and horses marching along the country roads.
Outside the village, in the wheat fields, colorful flags fluttered, gongs and drums were noisy, and the crowd was boisterous, a joyous scene after the harvest.
Teng's event is dominated by dance and theater performances. The Hands Dance is the opening program. It is a group dance with dozens to hundreds of participants, who are arranged in order of age. To the rhythm of gongs and drums, everyone moves, sways and dances around the venue from left to right. A beautiful dance, a warm atmosphere and a spectacular scene.
After the dance, a masked mime, "Crop Harvest," was performed, showing how a father teaches his son agricultural production techniques. The performance was vivid, delicate and interesting. Then they often perform the story of the Three Kingdoms, "Three Generals" and "Five Generals". Finally, they performed the mask dance "Kill the Tiger General", which showed the production life of the Turkish forefathers in the period of livestock production and reproduced the spirit of the Turkish forefathers' tenacious struggle with nature.
NATO is the most important cultural and recreational activity of the Turkish people. It is also a good opportunity for them to visit their friends and relatives, to exchange their experiences in production and life, and to learn and spread new ideas and knowledge. For young men and women's love seeds, naming became a heavenly opportunity for them to find a soulmate.
