"A Dance to the City" is an urban nighttime drama produced by Hong Kong TVB, produced by Wong Jing, starring Faye Chen, Yao Ziqin, and Joyce Tsai, and co-starring Karen Man, Chen Xingyu, Carrie Fu, Zhuang Zhuang, Zhuang Siming, Kwong Jieying, and Gao Junxian, premiering on Hong Kong's Jade Channel on May 15, 2023, and exclusively available on Burying Heap Pile's network. The drama tells the story of a series of love-hate relationships and rivalries in Hong Kong's most golden era of the 1980s, the "City of Nations".
Sha Jingxia, the "mother of the nightclub" in the City of Nations, and her subordinates, Shek Wai Kiong, Man Nga Lun, Jiang Jie Er and Yu Qiao Qiao, have a close relationship with each other. The five women have their own reasons for becoming Midnight Beauty, but all of them have experienced bumps and bruises in their love life. When she realizes that she has been cheated after sacrificing everything for her boyfriend, WU Chi-man, the relationship is complicated by the presence of WAI Qiong, a gangster named CHEUK Chi-fei, who is trying to help her out.
Jie Er has to choose between playboy Hui Ka Wah and ex-classmate Wong Chun Kui, while Qiao Qiao has to deal with a flaky king. The finale of "A Dance to the City" is that Zhi Fei and Michelle are together. Zhi Fei, a kook with a sense of justice, starts out with a crush on Ya Lun, but the groom has no intention to love her. Just when Ya Lun was cheated by her own scummy boyfriend, coupled with Salad Mom's rational analysis, it would be better to find one who likes her more, so she accepts Zhi Fei after his strong gestures and repeated confessions.
Chi Fei's relationship counselor is Shek Wai Kiong, and it is Wai Kiong who gets the credit for Chi Fei and Ah Lun getting together. Hui-Qiong is fond of Chi-Fei, but she is very rational and she would be happy to help Chi-Fei.
Chi Fei and Hye Kiong have an unspoken understanding that perhaps even Chi Fei doesn't realize. When he races a car, Hye-kyung understands him and is happy, while Ah-lun just thinks it's dangerous to drive like that; when Chi-Fei practices confession, Hye-kyung finds it moving, while Ah-lun just thinks it's too straight-laced. In the finale, Zhi Fei breaks up with Ah Lun and chooses Hui Qiong, who has always been in love with him.
