Chapter III The Original Text of Childhood

After I get better, I gradually see that Zokan's position in our big family is quite special.

Grandpa scolded him more than two uncles. In private, Grandpa often praised him:

"Ivan is a good player, and this boy has a bright future!"

These two uncles are very kind to him and never play pranks like Gregory.

Practical jokes about Gregory are played almost every day. Sometimes he burned scissors with a torch, sometimes he put a nail on a chair with his head held high, or put two different colors of cloth in the hands of this almost blind old craftsman. When he sewed them into different colors of cloth, he would be scolded by his grandfather:

Once, he took a nap in a hammock in the kitchen. I don't know which bad guy painted his face with red paint.

This kind of face is difficult to wash. For a long time, Gregory was such a funny and terrible face.

The gang tortured him endlessly, and Gregory didn't seem to take it seriously at all and said something.

Before he takes scissors, thimbles, pliers and iron, he always spits on his hands and tries to take them away.

This has become a habit. Before eating with a knife and fork, he will wet his fingers, and the children will laugh when they see it.

When he is burned, his face will be twisted into many wrinkles at once, and his eyebrows will be raised high until he disappears above his bald head.

I don't remember grandpa's attitude towards his sons' pranks. Every time, grandma would wave her fist and call them:

"You shameless devil!"
