History
Nanjing Road originated from the Bund to the Park Lane of Henan Road in 1851. In 1854, it was extended to Zhejiang Road, commonly known as Da Ma Road. In 1862, it extended westward to Tibet Road again. In 1865, the Ministry of Industry of Shanghai Public Concession was officially named Nanjing Road. From 195 to 1911, Hatong, a Jew, paved hardwood pavement on Nanjing Road. Half the property on both sides of the road belongs to him. In March, 198, trams were used. On May 3, 1925, the "May 3th" tragedy occurred in front of the door of the old gate at the intersection of Guizhou. At the end of World War II in 1945, the concession was abolished.
