Synopsis of The Clouds
Qin Wenjun, known for writing children's novels, is one of the most outstanding contemporary writers of children's literature, winner of several international literary awards and numerous national awards for outstanding bestsellers. Clouds of Clothes is based on a true story. After the Wenchuan earthquake, Qin Wenjun, with a sense of responsibility that a children's writer cannot lack, wrote a long novel based on the story of a wounded girl who came to Shanghai for treatment in Dujiangyan after in-depth interviews, in order to commemorate those who had left and to encourage those who had survived but had to face all kinds of misfortunes, especially those children who were strong enough to face life. The book is a masterpiece of earthquake relief and post-disaster reconstruction. The book was published in May 2009 by Spring Breeze Literary Publishing House. Qin Wenjun's past creations are all light and humorous, such as "Naughty Days". Yunshang, on the other hand, is a gritty work that brings tears to one's eyes. From a child's perspective, the novel reflects the lives of the children and the adults around the children. Sometimes the wind is calm, sometimes the breeze picks up waves, but suddenly the mountains shake and move, and in the face of great disasters, not only do the adults cope with them strongly, but the children also behave so strongly and bravely. The author's words are light and dynamic, the characterization of the work is distinctive and vivid, and the description of the children's psychology and the children's world is accurate and vivid, both dexterous and deep. The story takes place in Dujiangyan. A young girl, Yunshang, is in the middle of a lesson when suddenly the mountains shake and the ground shakes. When Yunshang wakes up, she finds herself crushed in the rocks. Yunshang hears the voice of her good friend Xinxin as if she were under the ground. Xinxin and Yunshang encourage each other to wait for someone to rescue them. While Yunshang hangs on, Xinxin leaves forever in the hope that her father will come back for her birthday. Auntie's cousin MaoMao completes her amputation surgery without the use of anesthesia on her own initiative. MaoMao is fitted with a prosthetic leg, but walks with her head held high. Yunshang is surrounded by a group of strong and courageous friends and classmates like Maomao, who overcome their own cowardice while spreading care to the adults around them. Written for strong children, Yunshang touches one's heart with the strength of humanity and the love of the world in the face of catastrophe. The children are so brave, facing the sudden disaster and all kinds of misfortunes, they gather courage and face it strongly, and then they spread smiles and love to their families, friends and strangers. Although there are always misfortunes in life, love is always there, and life is always full of sunshine. This is precisely the strength and spirit that author Qin Wenjun wants to convey to young readers.
