Introduction

Nearing the Spring Festival, the annual "Chengdu Jinsha Sun Festival" will meet the public as scheduled, following the series of civilizations of the world, such as Ancient Rome, Ancient Egypt, Pompeii, and so on, have met the audience at the previous Sun Festival, and this year's Sun Festival will be held at the same time. After ancient Rome, ancient Egypt, Pompeii and a series of other world civilizations have met with the audience at previous Sun Festivals, this year's "11th Chengdu Golden Sands Sun Festival" will have a close relationship with the Maya, a famous Mesoamerican civilization.

Between February 3, 2019 (the 29th day of the Lunar Calendar) and February 20, 2019 (the 16th day of the first month of the lunar calendar), the Sands Sun Festival will offer a series of Chinese New Year cultural activities such as exhibitions of the world's civilizations, themed light displays, garden florals, and culinary performances, to create a "Year of Culture" in the museum for Chengdu people.

Colorful lanterns

The 2018 Chengdu Jinsha Sun Festival, based on the three major sections of sun worship, ancient Shu civilization, and traditional folklore, will take the "Roots of Tianfu Culture" as a new theme, and show Chengdu's important position in the history of the world's civilizations by using traditional lanterns: the Forbidden City, the Pavilion, the Pavilion of the World's Civilizations, and the Pavilion of the World's Civilizations. The important position of Chengdu in the history of world civilization is demonstrated by traditional colored lanterns: the Forbidden City, the Parthenon, the glass pyramid, the Colosseum and other world-famous cultural heritages are gathered here, and the Chengdu City Tower drawn in the map of "Sichuan Victory" stands among them.

In addition, around the Jinsha Ruins Museum's inaugural exhibition, "Pompeii: Moment and Eternity - Pompeii Unearthed Artifacts Special Exhibition," this year's Festival of the Sun lanterns will also recreate the splendor of the ancient city of Pompeii, with its bustling Pompeii marketplace filled with stores and its golden palace inspired by ancient Roman architecture.

As an outdoor extension of the Pompeii exhibition, the Sun Festival also uses light sculptures in the sunken plaza next to the exhibition hall to outline the scenes of Pompeii's life: sailing, driving, praying, playing music, brewing, and the corner of the city's life is brought to life.

This year's Sands Sun Festival is the largest in its 10-year history, using more than 50 sets of lights, five extra-large sets more than 15 meters high, more than 5,000 strings of tree decorations, and more than 10,000 square meters of ambience to light up the Sands into a beautiful world of light and shadow.

At the same time, it is also the first time to try to lighten the exhibition hall as a whole, creating a distinctive museum building at night.

Pompeii

The ancient city of Pompeii, located on the Mediterranean coast, was founded in the 6th century B.C., and was incorporated into ancient Rome in 89 B.C.

The Pompeii Museum is the first of its kind in the world.

The pleasant climate, fertile land and convenient transportation, attracted countless Roman aristocrats stationed in Pompeii, magnificent temples and the Colosseum were built one after another, the Grand Theater and the public **** baths, wine shop and other lively public **** place to accommodate more than 10,000 Pompeii people's daily leisure life, all over the city's stores show a wide variety of goods

Soon, Pompeii has become the The city was soon to become a place of smoke and willows, a place to enjoy life, a place where tomorrow was uncertain, a place of pleasure and relaxation, as they say in Pompeii.

However, in 79 AD, Pompeii was buried within hours of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius: there was no more life, and with it all the memories.

The catastrophe killed the city of pleasure in an instant, but also gave it another sense of eternity - deep underground, unchanged for thousands of years. In the more famous ancient cities of Rome, Athens or Alexandria, the materials supplied by the old buildings were always used to build new ones, or applied to new purposes.

It is for this reason that Pompeii has also preserved many of the monuments that were not preserved in Rome: from sumptuous private gardens and baths, to a wealth of wet frescoes, to the shape of a loaf of bread freshly baked in the oven

The special exhibition, "Pompeii: Moment and Eternity - Pompeii Excavations", which is to be inaugurated during this year's Festival of the Sun, is organized by the Italian Cultural Heritage Agency (ACA).
