Back in the first season, The Rumpus was known for its biting and sarcastic commentary on current events.
Then, later, it went off the air, and it's all understood.
Then it came back significantly more toned down.
Then less and less.
Season 2 was right in the middle of the "sexual assault of a teenage girl by a gangster" and it wasn't even mentioned until the conversation went cold.
The show was as funny as ever, but centered around safer topics like foreign countries, square dancing, porcelain, cats and dogs, and so on.
Then The Rumpus came along.
