In the Ming Dynasty, since the Yongle Emperor built the Wudang Mountain temple, the Ming royal family has long pursued the policy of supporting the Wudang Mountain Taoism, so that the Wudang Mountain has appeared for more than 200 years of prosperity. In the long process of historical evolution, Wudang Taoism has created and incorporated colorful cultural contents, which still have a wide and far-reaching influence on Chinese society.
Wudang Mountain Taoist Culture
Zhenwu, anciently known as Xuanwu, is commonly known as Zhenwu Da Di. Xuanwu is the god of the north in ancient Chinese religion, portrayed as a turtle and snake. After the rise of Taoism, Xuanwu was incorporated into the Taoist god system, and combined with the belief in the North Pole Great Emperor, it gradually evolved into a major god of Taoism. The Xuanwu statue has been enshrined in the court of the Tang Dynasty. In the northern part of Song Zhenzong, Xuanwu was renamed Zhenwu to avoid the name of Zhao, the divine ancestor. In the early Song Dynasty, folklore popularized Taoist scriptures such as "Yuan Shi Tian Zun Said Northern Zhen Wu Jing", which referred to Zhen Wu as the Prince of Jing Le Guo. He went to Wudang Mountain to practice Taoism in the era of the Yellow Emperor for 42 years, and his achievements soared to the heavens. Popular Taoist scriptures such as the Xuan Di Shilu. During the Southern Song Dynasty, it was said that Zhen Wu was successful in subduing demons and was honored by the Jade Emperor as "Jade Void Master, Xuan Shen". Since the northern border of the Song Dynasty was always threatened by nomads, in order to seek help from Taoist deities to relieve psychological insecurity and pacify people's hearts, the rulers and ministers of the Song Dynasty worshipped Taoism and the god Zhenwu. Song Zhenzong, Renzong, Huizong, Qinzong, Xiaozong, Ningzong, and Li Zhong all worshipped Zhenwu, and were repeatedly ennobled. Up and down, folk worship of Zhenwu is increasingly flourishing. Yuan Dynasty Wudang Mountain Taoist collated and published "Wudang Fudian total true collection", "Xuan Tian God Qisheng Lu" and other scriptures, so that the story of Wudang Mountain Zhenwu God cultivation of immortality is more complete and perfect, which in turn makes the Wudang Mountain has become the world's worship of Zhenwu Taoist field.
During the Sixth Dynasty, Wudang Mountain was named by the Jingzhou Illustrated Record as "the Zuo of the High Pine, the Generation of the Five Mountains". The "Cave Heavenly Fortune Yue Dushi Famous Mountain Record" was written by Du Guangting, a famous Taoist priest of the Late Tang Dynasty, and listed Wudang Mountain as the ninth of the thirty-six holes and seventy-two blessings in the Taoist religion. In the seventh year of Emperor Chengzong Dade of the Yuan Dynasty (1303 A.D.), the god Zhenwu was named "Sheng Yuan Ren Wei Xuan Tian Shen", and the imperial decree said "Wudang Mountain is blessed with longevity." The fact that Wudang Mountain was classified as a blessed place and was honored by the supreme ruler of the Song and Yuan Dynasties indicates that its status among the famous mountains of Taoism is remarkable.

Throughout the ages, Wudang Mountain has had reclusive literati, especially after the Song Dynasty. In the Yuan Dynasty, there are poems in the Taoist scriptures, such as "Thirty-six rocks are full of hermits" and "I don't know how many fairy couples return to the famous mountain for love". Seasonings commonly used in Liulin include green onions, ginger, garlic, chili peppers, peppercorns, cinnamon and star anise. Try not to stir while simmering. There are a lot of hotels for accommodation at the foot of Wudang Mountain, which is the distribution center for tourists in Wudang Mountain. There are many accommodations, and shopping, dining and transportation are all very convenient. You can choose according to your own situation.
I chose the relatively good Jianguo Hotel in Wudang Mountain, only 50 meters away from the Wudang Mountain scenic spot ticketing hall. The hotel's overall architecture is built according to the mountain, and the mysterious and ethereal natural environment of the Wudang Mountains, reflecting the Taoist "unity of man and heaven" harmony, the historical and cultural elements of the Wudang Mountains and the full integration of modern style. This hotel not only has a superior location, but also makes me very satisfied with the sanitary conditions. In the evening, there was a hot pot buffet for about 98 people and a lottery. I chose to stay at the Jinding VIP House. The condition here is very simple, but the price is 680 RMB. Don't feel expensive. People still need to book in advance. I booked two months in advance. When I arrived at the foot of the mountain, I had to reconfirm to book the room. But it's very close to the Golden Peak, about 20 minutes away, saving me the pain of climbing the mountain early in the morning. There is a restaurant in the VIP building. The food is small and expensive but clean. It's enough to satisfy the subsistence.
Wudang Wushu Show at Easy Valley
Wudang Mountain is a famous Taoist mountain. Taoist organizations have their own beliefs and taboos. Therefore, when visiting the Taoist temples in Wudang Mountain, we must respect the traditional customs and taboos of the Taoist people. We must not ignore the etiquette customs or harm the etiquette customs by careless actions, which will lead to disputes and unpleasantness.
1. Address:
The Taoist priests should be addressed as "Taoist priest" and "Master", and it is forbidden to address them as "Monk" and "Taoist priest", or even as "Monk" and "Taoist priest". The name "monk", "monk", or even insulting names are prohibited. Elder Kun Tao cannot be called "auntie" or "grandmother", but also "Taoist priest" or "master".
2. Etiquette:
The common way to salute the Taoist priests is to embrace with both hands, the left hand holding the right hand in front of the chest, slightly lowered (i.e., bowing) in order to show respect, to avoid the Taoist priests shaking hands, embracing, touching and other first-class improper etiquette.
3. Speaking:
When talking with Taoist priests, one should not mention age and date of birth, or marriage matters, or swearing, so as not to cause the Taoist priests to be offended.
4. Customization:
Daoist monks in fasting (rice), chanting or meditation, visitors should not be disturbed, as the Taoist priests should not respond, because the Taoist religion has a "three not to mention" taboos.
5. Etiquette:
Don't make a lot of noise, point in the right direction, discuss, ridicule or tamper with temple offerings and statues, especially touching and pointing at statues is forbidden. In case of Taoist activities, you should stay put or leave quietly.
6. Taboos
Whether you are an incense burner or a tourist, you should respect the Taoist culture in its specific environment. When you enter the Wudang Sacred Path, you should be quiet and clear your mind, and do not say any dirty or profane words. If you want to burn incense and pay respect to the gods, there is a "silk burner" in the palace to fulfill your wish. Burning incense is not allowed in the main hall. If you want to bring some offerings to worship the gods, do not bring pomegranates, plums, saffron, chickens, dogs, etc. They are considered unclean by Wudang Taoism. Wudang Taoism considers unclean; do not eat wild goose, eel, turtle, snapper, cow, dog, pork, raw onion, leek, garlic, ginger and other meat stimulants, and do not drink alcohol. These are all taboo for the main god of Wudang, Zhenwu Da Di.
