My Low-Carbon Life - 2010 Youth Science Investigation and Experience Activity Essay. Maximum 100 points!

Low-carbon lifestyle is a new way of life that came into being at a time when human life is threatened by climate change. In family life, some of our students may not turn off the lights with their hands or tighten the faucet, which is actually an attitude rather than an ability. Family low-carbon life, is environmental protection life, is to reduce carbon emissions in life, pay attention to power saving, gas saving, start from the little things, cherish the ecological morality of resource conservation, to pay attention to what kind of life can be more environmentally friendly, more low-carbon.

One, the family has always been the way of life

These years the family living conditions have gradually improved, the types of household appliances, the number of increasing, the demand for necessities of life has also increased accordingly, and in these daily life with a greater number of items have a direct or indirect impact on the environment. According to my preliminary statistics:

1Situation analysis

The total electricity consumption of our home in May and June of 2009 was 101 degrees and 132 degrees respectively. 101 degrees and 132 degrees, during the day, my parents go out to work, I read, less electricity consumption. July, because in the summer vacation, the weather is hot, we use the highest frequency is the television, air conditioning, computers and electric fans, followed by the water heater, refrigerator, at home for a long time, so that the electricity consumption rose sharply, the total electricity consumption is 360 degrees. According to information, home electricity consumption also to exclude the corresponding carbon dioxide gas, the more electricity, the more carbon dioxide emissions.

In addition, such as television cranking, quartz clocks, etc., are to be regularly replaced batteries, used batteries discarded, the impact on the environment is also very large, mainly on the water pollution and pollution of the soil.

Oil smoke emissions in the kitchen, the outside of the air conditioner, the pollution of the air.

July due to high temperatures, the average temperature of 25 ~ 37 degrees Celsius, 37 degrees Celsius for about 10 days in a row, the use of air-conditioning in an average of 5, 6 hours, coupled with the use of television, computer use, electricity consumption than in May and June 3, 4 times more than that, a large number of air-conditioning in the residential area of the emission of hot air, so that the air is even hotter outdoors.

Second, pay attention to environmental protection lifestyle

From August 1, I have been thinking: in advocating the enjoyment of modern life at the same time, to pay attention to what kind of life can be more environmentally friendly, more low-carbon. Adopting a climate-friendly lifestyle, that is to say, everyone can be low-carbon if they pay a little attention every day, is the attitude of low-carbon living.

First, I'll start with saving electricity. The Changing Lifestyles: A Guide to a Climate Neutral United Nations states that a person's daily greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced by half with a few simple measures. Such as according to the common sense guide to life: the appropriate amount of food stored in the refrigerator, put too much or too little will contribute to electricity; air conditioning start-up instantaneous current is larger, and strive to do not frequent switching on and off the air conditioning; tell my mother that when the washing machine works in weak gear, the electric motor starts more often, and therefore the use of a strong gear in fact, than the weak gear to save electricity, but also extend the life of the iridium washer; a short period of time when not using the computer, to enable the computer "Standby "Standby" mode, energy consumption can be reduced to less than 50%; early to bed and early to rise habits, active exercise, regular TV or computer.

Then, usually pay attention to environmental protection life, starting from saving electricity, the electricity consumption in July and August was also carefully analyzed:

(Table 1: Weather conditions)

Months Sunny (days) Cloudy/sunny (days) Cloudy/thunder, rain showers (days) Rainy (days) Average Temperature (degrees Celsius)

July 9 12 7 3 25~37

8 Month 10 8 8 5 26~36

Analysis

July saw a gradual rise in temperature, low rainfall, occasional thunderstorms, and small amounts of rain and scorching heat. Analyzing the weather conditions, there was more rain in August than in July due to the impact of Typhoon Morakot, but the high temperatures of 37 to 38 degrees Celsius in August were intermittent for more than a week, which was much sweltering than in July.

(Table 2: Peak and Valley Electricity Consumption)

Monthly Total Electricity Consumption (kWh) Peak Electricity (kWh) Valley Electricity (kWh) Air Conditioning (days) Average Air Conditioning (days)

July 360 175 185 28 5

August 290 140 150 22 3

Analysis of the Situation

From the electricity bills received, we learnt that the electricity consumed in July was more than that of July. The electricity consumption in July, mom also reminded us to pay attention to saving, when appropriate to open the air conditioning. August began, we try not to use the air conditioning in the morning, at noon and in the afternoon close the doors and windows to play two or three hours of air conditioning, the evening is usually in the 9 o'clock into the valley of the power to use, a month down the power consumption and the electricity bill has dropped significantly. As long as the usual often pay attention to the electricity bill at home, the higher the electricity bill, the more power consumption, the carbon dioxide produced also increased proportionally.

We also pay a lot of attention to the small details of life, such as: the shower does not turn on the electric device, all the solar energy. Develop a day's work and rest time, such as: every day from 8 to 10 o'clock to read, complete homework, 10 to 11:30 to watch TV, after lunch to rest for a while and then take a nap, 14:30 or so for appropriate exercise, 15:00 to 16:30 to browse the Internet web page, and after dinner, and mom to go to the square to walk, watch the square dance, about 20:30 to the home, and then after the shower to watch a little TV, the total time to watch television than in July at least two hours less. Two hours less.

Secondly, in water conservation also focuses on recycling methods, such as washing vegetables, panning water and tea leaves left over from drinking tea, washing tea cups of water used to water the flowers, and mom's laundry water used to flush the toilet, mopping the floor. Turn off the faucet after using the water, turn off the water when taking a bath and rubbing the soap, and rinse after rubbing, as far as possible, so as not to let the water flow away for nothing.

Three, family low-carbon suggestions

Low-carbon consumption is in the face of resource and environmental constraints, limited resources should be used to meet people's basic needs, to limit the luxury of waste. Human life "small things" can save the planet, the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize winner Wangari Maathai said: "It is not the big things that make a difference, but the small progress we make every day." Any small decision people make about food, clothing, shelter and transportation can restore the planet. Saving the planet doesn't require a huge effort on our part or a change in our comfortable lives, what is needed is to seriously start with the details of our lives. Here's what we recommend to all families:

1. Switch your lights to CFLs. Although energy-saving lamps may be more expensive, they last 10 times longer and consume one-fourth to one-fifth of the energy used by their predecessors.

2. It is recommended that every family use a solar water heater, so that the sun, a renewable source of energy, can fully utilize its great role.

3. Dispose of electronic waste carefully. For example, a cell phone cadmium battery can pollute 600,000 liters of water, a small battery can pollute the land, therefore, should not be discarded electronic products to the landfill.

4. Clothing and shading saves energy. Add clothing in winter and open windows in summer. Use air conditioning as little as possible.

5. Turn off the faucet and save water.

6. Buy green food in simple packaging without chemicals. If you should buy some packaging can be recycled, do not buy luxury over-packaged products, not only to save valuable energy, but also to reduce the amount of garbage.

7. Classification of household garbage. Newspapers, beverage cans, oil cans can be recycled; clothes, can be made mop or given to others to wear; food waste packaged, so that the sewage as far as possible not to leak, never to the window to throw garbage.

8. Actively exercise and participate in outdoor activities. Such as walking after meals, dancing, playing tai chi, etc., not only enhances the physical fitness, but also can save an hour or two of peak power every day.

Family low-carbon life, we can do a lot of things, I intend to start from the small things around me, such as: less use of "napkins"; so that my mother less to buy me new clothes; less disposable household items; reasonable use of computers, reduce the brightness of the computer screen; plants and trees to beautify their own homes and so on. We also need to develop a hand turn off the lights, save electricity, use the water after the faucet off the good habits, for us to live in a low-carbon environment and efforts!
