Do I have to step on the clutch when I step on the brake?

You don't need to step on the clutch when braking. When braking, you only need to step on the brake pedal with your right foot, not the clutch. It should be noted that never step on the accelerator. It is possible to step on the clutch, but it is not necessary. The power of the engine is transmitted to the gearbox through the clutch, and the gearbox changes the speed of the engine (shifts gears) and then transmits it to the wheels. The engine and wheels always rotate synchronously in a certain proportion.

For example, the engine in 1 gear turns four times, the wheels turn 1 time, the engine turns three times after the second gear is engaged, and the wheels turn 1 time. After the clutch is engaged, the engine and wheels are disconnected and do not interfere with each other, but the engine speed, gear and vehicle speed must correspond when the clutch is not engaged. There is a lower limit of engine speed, that is, idle speed, below which the engine is easy to stall.

Therefore, the theoretical minimum speed of each gear is the speed when the engine is idling. When the speed of a certain gear is lower than this speed, the engine is easy to stall. When slowing down, as long as the current speed is higher than the idle speed of this gear, there is no need to step on the clutch. When braking in the current gear, as long as the engine speed is not lower than the idle speed, there is no need to step on the clutch.

Driving skills of manual transmission car;

1, go:

Generally, when starting on the flat ground, the vehicle will not slip, and it can start smoothly by controlling the semi-linkage state of the vehicle.

2. Acceleration and gear shifting:

When starting normally, you can step on the accelerator lightly to accelerate. When the vehicle speed increases, release the clutch. When the vehicle speed is stable, release the accelerator, press the clutch and put into second gear. When driving a manual gear, generally only use first gear when starting and turning around, and change to second gear in time after starting.

3, gear control:

Generally, when driving in urban areas, the engine speed is less than or equal to 2000 rpm, which can save some fuel consumption. At the same time, we should know the speed of each gear, about 1 gear15 km; The second gear is about 25 kilometers; The third gear is about 35 kilometers; The fourth gear is about 55 kilometers; The fifth speed is 65 and above.
