Wuhan river beach introduction

Hankou river beach is the iconic attraction of Wuhan, witnessed the rise and fall of "Wuhan". On one side of the beach is Jiangyan Road, where the traffic flows, and there are dozens of century-old buildings in different styles along the avenue. The beach is about 7 kilometers long. Citizens and tourists often visit the stretch from the city government office building to the Jianghan Pass building.

Hankou River Beach near the Yangtze River bears witness to Wuhan's former prosperity. At that time, Wuhan was the second largest industrial and commercial center in modern China after Shanghai, and was China's westernized metropolis.

Today, there are more than a dozen centuries-old buildings of different styles on the Hankou river beach and beside the traffic-laden Jiangyan Road. Behind each building is a forgotten story. Walking here, you can see the German Consulate (now City Hall) built in the early 1900s, HSBC Hankou Branch (now China Everbright Bank), Citibank Hankou Branch (now Industrial and Commercial Bank of China) and so on. The Jianghan Customs Building has been the office of Wuhan Customs since its completion in 1922.

On the other side of the river is the open Jiangtan Park, which consists of a three-story water viewing platform. It is a large recreational plaza in Wuhan. The second platform will be flooded by the rising Yangtze River for two months out of the year. If you come here at this time, you will have the feeling of "seeing the sea in the city". On the lower platform, a sandy beach will appear in the dry season, so you can step off and paddle directly into the Yangtze.
