The basic movements of Dai dance are taught as follows:
One hand of Dai dance: push the thumb back and place it on the front of the thigh.
Next hand: The wrists of both hands are bent back, the hands should be slightly curved, the thumbs are bent back, and the arms are slightly bent, on both sides of the thighs.
Last hand: Place your hands behind your hips, not touching each other, but slightly apart. The hands should not be too far away from the body. The hands should be slightly curved, the thumbs should be turned back, and the arms should be slightly bent.
Hands on one side: Put your hands on one side of your body, similar to one hand on the other.
Basic rhythm of movement:
Front ups and downs: sink downwards with heavy beats, sink slowly, the downward movement should be even, the spine should be vertical, and you should not intrude forward when squatting. You can't lean back, your spine sinks toward your heels, and when you lift it up slowly, it's like sagging!
Side ups and downs: When sinking, bend your knees downward, hold your left knee against the knee of your right foot, move your upper body to the left, look to the right with your head, move in the opposite direction, and move to the left When collapsing, point your right foot toward the left leg. At this time, the left leg is the main leg, and the center of gravity is on the left leg. When collapsing, the upper body cannot move forward or backward. Keep upright, push out the right waist, and look to the left.
The ups and downs of the feet: when the body sinks, there is a lift. When the body is hooked back, the knees cannot be pushed forward (because the Dai people wear barrel skirts). It will be ugly if you move forward. You must kick your leg vertically backwards, and it must be a hook. Every time you kick, you must be quick, the movement must be clean, and you must breathe!
When the legs are kicked back, the upper body rises a little from side to side and cannot rise straight! When lifting the left leg, perform a right squat, and when lifting the right leg, perform a left stride. This action is very important in Dai dance!
