How did Liang Qichao treat Lin Huiyin after her father, Lin Changmin, died in the war?

In November 1925, Lin Huiyin and Liang Sicheng were studying at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Fine Arts. When they flew overseas with me, they were caught off guard by a disaster. It turned out that Crocker-1's father, Lin Changmin, had died suddenly. He had been defeated while participating in anti-worship and was killed by a stray bullet. At the time, Lin Changmin was only 49 years old.

When Lin Huiyin heard the news of her father's death, she was devastated. She was saddened by the fact that her father's ambitions were not rewarded, and by the fact that father and daughter loved each other y but never saw each other again. As the eldest daughter, she was eager to return home, but Liang Qichao sent frequent telegrams to discourage her, saying that the situation in Fujian was chaotic at the time and that she should not return to stay in the United States for the time being.

Lin Huiyin and Father Lin Changmin

The tragic situation behind Lin Changmin was also worrying. At the time, the family had only 300 yuan in cash, making it difficult to support the family. Both of Lin Changmin's wives were housewives with no ability to earn a living. At this point, Liang Qichao, as Lin Changmin's friend and in-law, stepped forward to write a letter to the government and raised enough money for the Lin family, thus easing the family's temporary crisis.

After Lin Changmin's death, his second concubine returned home to Fujian with her children, and Liang Qichao had been supporting his mother, who was in need of alimony and had lost her study expenses. Lin Huiyin felt y that she was no longer a well-dressed Lin teacher, and had planned to take a year off to ease the financial pressure, but Liang Qichao wrote to advise her, "Pay more attention to your studies and tuition fees."

Liang Qichao

In Liang Qichao's eyes, her child's education and future far outweighed everything else. Even though Lin Huiyin was an unmarried daughter-in-law at the time, Liang Qichao, who didn't want to delay Lin Huiyin's studies, paid all his own study fees and raised an extra 2,000 yuan for Lin to ask for when she needed it.

The cost of studying abroad was solved. From then on, Lin Huiyin devoted herself to her studies, and her father's death enabled Lin Huiyin to continue her studies in Pennsylvania under the support of Liang Qichao. Liang Qichao, as his father-in-law, had always cared for Lin Huiyin like his own father he. in the spring of 1928, Lin Huiyin and Liang Sicheng were married, and afterward they were both successful in their studies.

Lin Huiyin was lucky to have such a father. Liang Qichao treated her as his own child. As early as Lin Huiyin and Liang Sicheng's trip to Europe, Liang Qichao began to run for his career as a parent. Even Liang Qichao was no exception, always thinking of doing more for his children.

When Lin Huiyin's father died, Liang Qichao wrote a letter of consolation:Don't worry about tuition fees, just be my daughter

Lin Huiyin and Liang Sicheng

At that time, Liang Qichao learned that Northeastern University was thirsting for talent, and that the Department of Architecture had already admitted a class of undergraduates, but there was no professional professor. At that time, Shenyang's construction industry was very developed, but there were few construction engineers. Liang Qichao examined the situation and finally decided to let his son and daughter-in-law go to Northeastern University.

Lin Huiyin and Liang Sicheng returned to Beijing on August 18, 1928. Shortly after returning to Beijing, Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin were hired by the architecture department of Northeastern University. Liang Sicheng was 27 years old when he became the head of the architecture department at Northeastern University. He and Lin Huiyin were the only professors who watched Liang Sicheng and Lin Huiyin have successful careers.

Lin Huiyin

At 2 p.m. on Jan. 19, 1929, Liang died at the age of 57 at the Union Hospital after a long illness. At that time, Lin Huiyin happened to be pregnant. Unfortunately, Liang Qichao did not see his granddaughter born. He was very saddened by Liang Qichao's departure, Lin Huiyin, and especially by the death of Lin Huiyin's father on the most difficult day. It was Liang Qichao who helped her through the toughest times.

To Lin Huiyin, Liang Qichao was as kind to her as her own father. Lin Huiyin endured great pain and pregnancy reactions, and together with Liang Sicheng, arranged the funeral for Liang Qichao and designed the tombstone herself.
