A false alarm, teammates were "wanted"
On the 9th, the team came to Pingwang Town, Jiangsu Province, which was their first stop in Jiangsu. In order to save money, the team members four people squeeze a room. "Knock knock ......" 12 o'clock in the middle of the night, the female members of the team who had fallen asleep were awakened by a sharp knock on the door. "Room check!" Several men's voices came from outside.
The female students in the room were too scared to open the door, so they called the lead teacher, Mr. Di Wei Feng. Until Mr. Di came, they dared to open the door. It turned out to be the police station police to check the room, after checking the student's documents, the police asked the team members Yang Jiao to go to the police station to assist in the investigation.
Half an hour later, Yang Jiao and Mr. Di rushed back to the hotel. It turns out that the hotel to register, the police station's automatic alarm checking Yang Jiao's ID card issued an alarm. Qu Yuanyu said, Yang Jiao's ID card and a national wanted person's is the same, after the police station police investigation, only to find that her ID card has been stolen. Fortunately, it was only a false alarm.
Modern canals, wrong as ancient canals
In Pingwang Township, the team carried out a 10,000-person signature campaign on a plaza next to the canal. The canal water flowing next to the square could not help but make the team marvel at the efforts made by the Wujiang municipal government to protect the canal and secretly celebrate the ancient canal.
But on the morning of the 10th, the team went to Pingwang Township, the old neighborhood near the Ande Bridge to investigate. Local residents told them that the water flowing under the Ande Bridge is only the ancient canal water excavated during the period of Emperor Yang of Sui Dynasty, while what they saw on the square yesterday is the modern artificial river excavated in the early 1960s for the convenience of the transportation of large cargo ships. The team couldn't help but feel the bitterness: many sections of the ancient canal were cut into pieces due to the construction of locks and roads, and became "stagnant water" that did not circulate with each other; the two sides of the river became a discharge site for residents' garbage, which emitted a stench from time to time. The fate of the new and old canals is very different.
Side of Cold Mountain Temple, meet Sang Lan
On February 11, the team came to Suzhou, near the Cold Mountain Temple, to carry out the heritage signing activities. While everyone was busy, someone suddenly called out "Sang Lan is here". Sure enough, the team saw Sang Lan, who was in a wheelchair, coming to their activity site with the help of the staff. Sang Lan also took the initiative to ask for a signature to support the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal Heritage, which made the team members excited.
Sang Lan is from Ningbo, so a few Ningbo students on the team even talked to Sang Lan in dialect. It turned out that Sang Lan happened to be praying at Cold Mountain Temple on that day, and happened to be passing by, and felt that the activities of the ZJNU team were very meaningful, so she took the initiative to come and sign to support them.
Survey results, mixed feelings
After the nine-day trip, the team members sighed all the way to the end: the same canal, why each section of the water quality situation is very different? Along the way, the team used buses, based on the drawing of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, stepped all the way to investigate the water quality of the Grand Canal and the situation on both sides of the Grand Canal. It was found that in some streams, the Grand Canal is very well protected and the water quality is clear and fresh; however, some other watersheds are sewage-ridden, disconnected, and even turned into stinking ditches.
The team told the reporter that since the north of Tangxi, at the confluence of the ancient and modern canals, there are piles of garbage on the riverbed along the coast, and the water quality is seriously polluted, especially in the canal sections flowing through some old cities, which are not well protected. In the new city some wastewater from production and living is discharged into the canal nearby. Henshan section of the watershed, the canal around a lot of factories, thick black smoke.
"One of the conditions of the canal heritage bid is that there can not be any industrial pollution within a few hundred meters on both sides of the river. And some nearby residents told us that the water of the canal was very clear, you can drink directly; in the 1990s along the coast began to build factories, dust and black smoke flying in the sky, sewage discharged directly into the canal. The canal has a long way to go to bid for its heritage!" The team expressed their worries.
However, the Wujiang team saw hope again. Along the canal north, they found the Sanliqiao Ecological Park. This is a delta formed by the impact of the canal, the garden lawns, lakes, trees, trails and the gushing canal water complement each other, the scenery of the ancient canal, and modern life.
The team said, when the summer vacation they again from Suzhou, continue north to the canal to investigate, hope that by then the canal is more and more beautiful.
