A historical riverside ancient town, built on the mountain, living by the water, winding green stone road, ancient hanging footstools, very much like such a quiet and pleasant place.
Gongtan Ancient Town
Gongtan Ancient Town is located at the confluence of the Wujiang River and the Apeng River, and Yanhe County, Guizhou Province, across the river. It is the starting point of Youyang's "Thousand Miles of Wujiang River, Hundred Miles of Galleries", and has been a transit point for goods from the Wujiang River Basin and even the Yangtze River Basin since ancient times. In fact, the initial impression of Gongtan Ancient Town is not good. Dragging suitcases from beginning to end of the helplessness is still fresh in my mind, the curved green stone road has become the biggest complaint in my mind. However, the longer I stayed, the more I liked this riverside town.
History of Gongtan
It is said that the original Gongtan town was flooded and then sunk under water. Now that Gongtan Ancient Town has been relocated, even the neighbors have not changed. So even if it is a new ancient town, you can see the same cultural and living atmosphere.
: The beauty of Gongtan Ancient Town
1. Building Construction Methods
The high and low hanging footstools are all built according to the mountain, in a staggered manner. Facing the Wu River, pushing open the doors and windows is an unrivaled river view.
2. Village Names and Lifestyles
In search of a panoramic view of Gongtan, I went to the center of the square in the old town. The locals had already started square dancing to the music. I have never seen any ancient town dancing like this. It is evident that the vibrant Gongtan will not be disturbed by the outside world even if it becomes a tourist attraction.
3. Observation Deck
From the square, you go up the stairs, cross the bridge, and cross the path to an observation deck. The view is not the best, but you can see part of the panorama of Gongtan. The staggered hammocks look layered. With the square dance music punctuating the scene and the Wujiang River, everything seemed so peaceful.
The water was flowing fast, the breeze was blowing, and the beautiful scenery was passing by. I really enjoyed this moment. It was a bit of a pity that I didn't browse the whole course later because of time, but with regrets comes the opportunity to come back.
Tips:
1. Compared with the hustle and bustle of other ancient towns, Gongtan is more peaceful and less commercial.
2. Evening is the best time to go out. There are very few tourists on the streets at this time, and only the local residents are relaxing in front of their homes.
3. The merchants in the old town are all locals, which is why Gongtan is not commercialized.
4. Gongtan can also take a boat to browse the scenery on both sides of the river.
5. Along the river into the Youyang Wanmu, Gongtan, in Fuling into the Yangtze River, the total length of 1,070 kilometers, Wujiang Youyang section of about 60 kilometers. The Wujiang River is the essence of the "Wujiang Hundred Mile Gallery".
