"Strong affection, strong love, how do you know that HongLing is wrong, all roads lead to Rome? What does it mean to be happy and worried about walking in the snow before taking a day off in Xun Mei?

It means to express the anguish and helplessness that the poet and his relatives can't get together.

From: Huanxisha-Affectionate by Liu Yong in the Northern Song Dynasty.

Original text:

Affection is strong, love is strong, how do you know that HongLing is wrong and the road is different?

There are joys and sorrows, and there are joys and sorrows. Only by stepping through the snow in Xun Mei can we stop and look back at the past at the end of the day.

Translation:

Friendship and love are very deep. Unexpectedly, there is a great distance between them, and finally it is the same road, but not the same destination. I am sad when I am happy, and I am sad when I am happy. I looked for plum blossoms in the snow, but I found it had been a long time.

Ci originally came from folk, and Dunhuang Quzi Ci was mostly folk. After reaching the hands of literati, it was gradually used to express the life and feelings of literati. Liu Yong lived in the middle and early period of the Northern Song Dynasty, where the citizen class had gradually grown. He hung out in brothels and pubs and knew the life of citizens quite well.

Liu Yong's ci poems, which express women's life and feelings, not only change and develop the singing style of ci poems from the music system, but also change the aesthetic connotation and taste of ci poems from the creative direction, that is, change "elegance" into "vulgarity" and make ci poems re-enter the market from the aristocratic literature salon.

However, Liu Yong's writing about travel and travel is quite elegant. The words "staying on the journey" are mostly related to the lack of talents and the decline of the world. This kind of words express the feelings of a scholar, which belongs to the category of "elegance" itself.

In terms of writing techniques, Liu Yong is also compatible with the expressive techniques of poetry. The creation of artistic conception, the rendering of atmosphere, the use of allusions and the choice of words and sentences all reflect the characteristics of elegance, which makes his ci show the characteristics of appealing to both refined and popular tastes.
