[edit]Biography
Eric Bana was born in 1968 in Melbourne, Australia, to a Croatian father and a German mother. As a child, he aspired to be a mechanic, and in high school he took a break from school to work in an automobile factory, a rebellious idea that was eventually put to rest by his father's advice. A few years later, he became interested in acting because he enjoyed watching comedian Richard Prier, but it wasn't until he saw the movie MadMax that he made up his mind to become an actor. In hindsight, actor Richard Prill and comedy did have a considerable influence on Eric's acting career: he did stage comedy stand-up for ten years before officially working as a movie actor, and like the multi-talented Richard Prill, he jumped at the idea of writing and directing, and worked behind the scenes on several plays. Even though Eric set his sights on becoming an actor as a teenager, he never went to drama school to receive a formal acting training, and he admits that his acting skills and knowledge of theater are all based on his own practice and extensive knowledge of various performances. He also seems to take a casual, no-holds-barred approach to his acting career, as he was still working as a barman in a Melbourne hotel and bar when he started his career in comedy in 1991. Ten years into his comedy career, he finally landed his first leading role in a movie, playing the real-life Mark Reed, a real-life criminal intent on making a name for himself but unable to avoid failure, in Chopper, which won him the 2001 Australian Film Critics Association's Best Actor award. He won the 2001 Australian Film Critics Circle Award for Best Actor, which brought him to the attention of the Hollywood film industry. But Chopper, a darkly comic but morally controversial film about brutal violence, didn't bring Eric much notoriety until his performance in Hulk Hulk, and in 2005 he starred in Spielberg's Oscar-winning Munich, becoming one of the newest leading men in Hollywood. At one point, he was also the favorite to be the new James Bond.

Eric Bana says working with Ang Lee was 'like a nightmare'
Eric Bana's "Hulk" sequel "The Incredible Hulk" is about to hit theaters, and Eric Bana, the Aussie actor who was scouted by Ang Lee to play the "Green" movie, has turned around and criticized Ang Lee and "Hulk".
According to the United Daily News, Eric Bana, who is also from Australia, and Brokeback Mountain's Heath Ledger, said publicly in a recent media interview that working with Ang Lee on Green was like a nightmare.
Eric was interviewed and said that in 2003, Lee Ann directed the "Green" film, Lee Ann did not actually guide him, just like playing chess, a scene let him act on 140 times, Eric said: "I started to act to act until, in fact, there is no difference at all, the result is not interesting at all, and no one really knows what he (Lee Ann) in doing. What?"
Although "Hulk" was named Ang Lee gave Eric a big breakthrough in Hollywood, but Eric seems to be ungrateful, he was interviewed and said: "Look at that movie, you simply can not and the role of one, and can not even feel, in Ang Lee's lens, he (Hulk Hulk) is like a laboratory samples, not like a role. "
It is reported that Hulk cost $137 million to make and only lost money at the box office stateside. Eric Bana told the Australian Associated Press, "The amount of pressure was so great that it made me feel sick and gave me nightmares."
But after Green, Ang Lee directed the critically acclaimed Brokeback Mountain, which also won the Academy Award for Best Director, and Eric has yet to pick up a single small gold medal, and is settled in Melbourne, Australia.
This year has been 39 years old Eric said: "away from Hollywood has a big advantage, if in that city, easy to be sexy beauty, unreal things, paranoia, uncertainty, change of heart." In Melbourne, Eric forgets he's a movie star, saying, "I'm just part of the furniture."
<<Star Trek>> to be made into a movie Eric Bana to star as villain
Eric Bana's casting as a villain is still pretty convincing Australian actor Eric Bana is set to star as a villainous baddie in a movie based on the hit sci-fi TV series "Star Trek". According to Daily Variety, the movie is being directed by J.J. Abrams, who masterminded the successful TV series Lost and The Double Agent, and 39-year-old Australian actor Eric Bana, who has starred in Munich and The Hulk. Bana will play the role of villain Nero.
The plot and casting of the movie are being kept under strict wraps. Other actors in the movie include Leonardo Nimoy, who has appeared in the movie before. Nimoy, a veteran of the previous Star Trek TV series, will be able to break out of his popular role as Mr. Spock, and James T. Kirk, the commander of the U.S.S. Enterprise, is still up in the air.
This was the 11th time the series had been brought to the screen, first in 1966, and it was such a success that it became one of Hollywood's biggest hits, with 726 episodes.
