Lantern dance is a traditional dance in Tongliang District, Chongqing, China, and it is one of the provincial intangible cultural heritages in Chongqing. It originated in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties and was popular in Tongliang County during Guangxu period.

Tongliang Dragon Lantern Dance has become an important part of Tongliang "China Tongliang Dragon Lantern Art Festival" and "China Tongliang Dragon Lantern Cultural Tourism Festival". The important historical and cultural value, technological value and social value of Tongliang Lantern Dance with a long history and rich varieties are gradually known to the world. Tongliang Lantern Dance originated in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties and was popular in Tongliang County during Guangxu period. It was in its heyday from the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China.

Lantern dance continued to develop after 1949, and was forced to stop during the Cultural Revolution, and gradually recovered after the Cultural Revolution. Tongliang Lantern Dance is rich in connotation, strong in artistry and full of local flavor. Its variety covers 26 towns and streets in the county. Tongliang county has always attached great importance to the inheritance and protection of lantern dance. The lantern dance reappeared on 1980. 1984 to 199 1, the county-wide dragon lantern fair was held.
