Gangu April 8 temple fair allusion

April 8, also known as the Buddha Bathing Festival, is an important festival for Chinese Buddhists to commemorate the birth of Sakyamuni Buddha, also known as the Buddha's Birthday. According to legend, more than 2,600 years ago, when Sakyamuni was born from the rib of Mrs. Moyer, he pointed to the sky and the earth and said, "I am the only one in heaven and the whole world." Then the earth shook and the nine dragons spat out water to bathe in it. Therefore, Buddhists of various countries and nationalities usually commemorate the Buddha's birth anniversary by bathing in the Buddha and other ways.
