Many people think that undergraduate, or graduate school during the literary profession, is to read poetry, read works, and then engage in literary creation. As a person involved, I'm going to tell you matter-of-factly, "This is what you think a literature major is."
Many of the world's best fantasies are constructed by ourselves before we try them ourselves. Our literature major, in fact, is far from the imagination so beautiful, we learn the history of literature and all kinds of literary theory, and these things, are the most stifling imagination. So once the president of Peking University said, "The Chinese department, not a place to train writers."
Of course, you don't have to be serious with me, not to say that literature majors have produced writers. If they have, it's because they practiced on their own, and it has nothing to do with the discipline.
At the same time, we also have to face the pressure of employment, the general trend of society is like this: when people know for the first time that I studied in the Chinese Department, usually will come to the mouth of the sentence, that can find a job?
I'm sure I can find a job, but I don't know what I'm going to do yet. I don't want to plan too much, because plans, always can't catch up with changes. All I can do is live in the moment. This is a well-talked about phrase, but only when you really practice it, you realize that it's a lot of fun.
We are more theoretical in literature, but of course, it's up to you to decide what you like and what you want to read.
My first semester classes were mainly linguistics, narratology, 20th century western literature, Chinese canon, politics of English, and introduction to Literary Heart and Dragon. My instructor was Mr. Huang, who was very nice, handsome, steady and without losing his humor, and very devoted to us. If I have to say counterpart, I think the tutor is the most counterpart.
