Is it illegal to build a small house in your own yard in rural areas?

If the yard is your own homestead, building a wing in the yard cannot be called illegal building.

Illegal buildings, in a strict sense, refer to houses and facilities built in violation of the Land Management Law, the Urban and Rural Planning Law, the Regulations on Planning and Construction of Villages and Market Towns and other relevant laws and regulations.

Illegal buildings mainly include:

(a) buildings built without application or approval, without obtaining the construction land planning permit and the construction project planning permit;

(2) changing the buildings built according to the provisions of the construction project planning permit without authorization;

(three) buildings built without changing the nature of use;

(four) buildings that have not been demolished into permanent buildings after the expiration of the temporary building construction period; (4) Buildings constructed by forging relevant materials to defraud the permission of the competent department.

In rural areas, if the yard land is your own homestead, then building a wing in your own yard can't be called illegal building.
