Sa Dingding's mother is Mongolian and her father is Han Chinese.
Living a nomadic life with her grandmother in northern China from the age of 3, Sa Dingding grew up loving to sing and dance, and was the backbone of the school's arts and culture. After graduating from high school, she was admitted to the Department of Music of the People's Liberation Army Academy of Arts, majoring in popular singing and taking a course in composition.
In 2000, she participated in the Ninth CCTV Young Singers Television Grand Prix and won the second place in the professional group of popular singing. Afterwards, she entered the Song and Dance Troupe of the Political Department of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army as a soloist. 2001, she released the songs "Your Own Beauty" and "Dombara" to make her official debut.
