In my previous two articles, I introduced six pairs of figure skating pairs, including Shen Xue/Zhao Hongbo, Sui Wenjing/Han Cong, and Wang Shiyue/Liu Xinyu. Today
Figure skating is a traditional ice sport at the Winter Olympics. Figure skating became a major skating event at the Winter Olympics in 1908. Pairs skating has evolved into ice dancing, which is more artistic and entertaining, and the figure skating arena has the largest audience of any arena at the Winter Olympics.
European and American countries to carry out figure skating program time is very early, the 18th century in the United Kingdom first popular singles figure skating, and then in Germany, the United States, Canada and other countries rapidly emerging.
The figure skating program has always been a strength of the Winter Olympics in Europe and the United States, and today I'd like to introduce a few pairs of famous international figure skating couples.
.1 Ekaterina Gordeeva/Sergei Glinkov
Gordeeva and Glinkov were the most famous pairs skating team in the Soviet Union. They have been called "the most perfect on-ice partnership in history"!
Since 1986, they have almost never lost a competition, big or small, and have been the only skaters to win another gold medal after their comeback.
Gordeeva and Glinkov went to the same high school and the same figure skating training group to learn to skate, and it was only in 1982 that Glinkov, at the age of 14, teamed up with Deeva, who was only 10 years old, to become a pairs skating partner. After two years of hard training, the pair began their journey to conquer the world of ice. 1985, when Gordeeva was 13 years old, they won the World Junior Pairs Skating Championships; 1986, they won their first World Championships; 1988, at the Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada, they won their first Winter Olympics Pairs Skating Gold Medal. They also won the World Junior Pairs Skating Championships at the age of 13; They were the first pairs skaters to ever win the Winter Olympics. They did not compete at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France, due to their transition to professional figure skating. The 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway, were open to professional figure skaters for the first time, and Glinkov and Godieva made a comeback, easily winning the Olympic gold medal in pairs skating.
On April 21, 1991, they were married in a grand ceremony in Moscow. After they got married, their skating skills became different." When they skated before marriage, they often sketched beautiful lines, but just like two kids who didn't know how to live." According to their friend Julin, "In the last few years, the ice lovebirds became more and more wonderful together. Because everything was so perfect. They loved each other y and loved their daughter Delia."
Ekaterina Godieva/Sergei Glinkov have been called the best pairs pairing in skating, demonstrating the essence of what pairs skating is all about: magical as one. Perhaps it took their peers to understand just how far they have come.
Their good friend, the famous skater Paul Wiley, said: "I'm not sure I'm a good skater, but I'm a good skater," he said. You can see the power that exists between them on the ice," said Willie. Their eyes never left each other during the whole performance. .......... It's the kind of perfect two-person world that not many people get to have." American coach John. Pickles said, "They are the consummate partners, ........ , sliding on the ice without making a sound. Their feeling is symphonic. Don't look at them, just listen - there's not a sound. No matter what the ice conditions are, all you can hear is the music. They slide so freely, their skates never scrape the ice." Sports commentator Dick Barton said. Barton said, "He had strength, will, speed, romantic presence, and he had an extraordinary sense of music. Above all, they have an extraordinary ability to work together, and that's what drives people to do pairs skating."" He was totally focused on her," said Staubke, a former U.S. pairs champion, "and she returned that 'I love you like that' gaze that only makes your heart sing."
Glinkov had good looks, a personality that everyone praised, and an ever-cheerful smile. In addition to his championship caliber on the ice, Glinkov off the ice is remembered by everyone as healthy, happy, a good partner, husband and father full of enthusiasm. So he was a charismatic prince both on and off the ice!
When people thought that the true fairy tale of "the princess and the prince lived happily ever after" would last for a long time, it was crushed by tragedy without warning! On November 28, 1995, at the World Skating Training Center in Simsbury, Connecticut, where Glinkov and Gediva had settled, 28-year-old Glinkov died of a heart attack during a routine ice practice. Their thousands of fans and the entire figure skating community, which they were closely associated with, were shocked and in pain! According to doctors' diagnosis, Glinkov had an inherited gene for heart disease, and due to his strong athlete's physique, previous small signs were ignored, leading to a sudden coronary blockage. An eyewitness at the scene of the incident, close friend Paul Wiley, said. Willie said: "It was a lesson we didn't need. It's just too much to take in."
Since then, only Godieva has been left alone on the ice, and she has never skated pairs again, but has been skating solo to fulfill her husband's unfinished business!

.2 Totemianna/Malenin
Totemianna was born in Russia in 1981. Malenin was born in Russia in 1997. They are famous Russian pair skaters.
Totemianina/Malenin have been paired in pairs skating since 1996. Before that they were both single skaters. Malenin decided to switch to the pairs program after being beaten in a competition by Petro Prushenko, who was five years his junior. Totmianina and Malenin were able to perform two different triple jumps (backward loop and backward point of ice) in the short program. Their idols are Olympic pairs skating champions Gordeeva/Grinkov and Dimitri. Before the 2001 European Championships they moved to Chicago to join Olympic pairs skating champion Oleg Vasiliev (1984 U.S. Winter Olympic pairs skating champion in Los Angeles).
Totemianna/Malenin are contemporaries of Shen Xue/Zhao Hongbo, two-time World Champions and fifth consecutive European Championships pairs skaters since 2002-2006. At the time when China's Shen Xue/Zhao Hongbo and other three pairs skating combinations were at their strongest, they held up half of the sky in Europe and the United States.
At the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, Totemianna/Malenin beat Shen Xue/Zhao Hongbo and Zhang Dan/Zhang Hao to win the gold medal. And at that Olympics, Zhang Dan and Zhang Hao continued to play tenaciously despite a serious injury to their left knee, eventually winning the silver medal.
After the 2006 Winter Olympics, they chose to retire. They were a cordial pair on the field, and lived their own lives. In the year of retirement 25-year-old Totemianina married her coach - 47-year-old Oleg Vasiliev.
Totemianina and Malenin, as they were old rivals in Chinese pair skating, both of them left a deep impact on the hearts of our audience. Respect for rivals is a reflection of the quality of a strong nation, and as the Winter Olympics are underway in Beijing today, let's look back at the old rivals.
