The origin and customs of the Dragon Dance are as follows:

Legend has it that a long time ago, there was a village of lotus on the bank of Campsis Creek, and in front of the village there was a lotus pond full of lotus flowers. The lotus flowers saw their son transformed into an auger dragon and flew up into the sky, and cried out loudly, but the auger dragon had already flown away without a trace. Since then, whenever there was a drought on both sides of Campsis Creek, the little dragon came to scatter clouds and spread rain.
The local people thanked it by picking seven hundred and seventy-nine lotus blossoms from this pond and used nine hundred and ninety-nine leaves of petals to make a flower dragon. Because it was less than one thousand leaves, the father also called it a hundred leaves, so it was named Hundred Leaf Dragon.
