Monitoring and control of blood sugar in primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases

The occurrence of diabetes is a slow process, and it often takes a long period of abnormal glucose metabolism before being diagnosed as diabetes. A large number of studies have proved that cardiovascular damage has occurred as early as impaired glucose regulation [impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) or impaired fasting blood glucose (IFG)]. Therefore, the intervention of blood sugar should precede the diagnosis of diabetes. It was suggested that:

1. Healthy people check their fasting blood glucose 1 time every year from the age of 40;

2. Age

People over 3.45 years old, especially those who are overweight (BMl≥24 kg/m2), should be tested regularly for OGTT;; If the screening results are normal, repeat the examination after 3 years;

4. Actively intervene in IGT. First, strengthen lifestyle intervention, including balanced diet, proper physical exercise and weight loss; If it is ineffective for 3 ~ 6 months, you can take metformin or acarbose orally; 1 OGTT evaluation is conducted every six months.
