Introduction and cultivation techniques of lotus seedlings

1. Lotus seedlings are actually used to grow lotus seedlings, which are usually bought at the flower market. After planting, they will grow into mature plants. Pay attention to choose healthy and strong seedlings when planting, so that they will grow better after planting.

2. Planting process: Before planting lotus seedlings, drain the water in the pond, turn the mud in the pond over and rake it flat, then apply sufficient fertilizer, and finally plant lotus seedlings. When planting, the top bud should face upwards, then insert it into the mud at an angle of 20-30 degrees, and the tail should be exposed on the mud surface. After 2 days, the water should be drained for 20-30cm. When planting lotus in pots and tanks, the planting method is the same as that in ponds.

3. Soil requirements: Lotus seedlings need fertile soil rich in humus. The general soil is lake mud. Of course, 3 parts of loess, 4 parts of garden soil and 3 parts of sand can also be mixed and used. Chemical contaminated mud and sewage sludge are not allowed. When planting, it can be cultivated according to the local climate.

4. Lighting requirements: Lotus is a positive plant, and it needs to keep lighting for more than 10 hours every day. In addition, lotus root seedlings should also be prevented from being eaten by fish and shrimp. Clean up the fish and shrimp before planting, and take corresponding protective measures during the planting.

5. Water quality requirements: Lotus belongs to aquatic plants, which are generally planted in ponds, requiring slow water flow and stable water level. Although the requirements for water quality of lotus root seedlings are not high, they can be planted as long as they are not seriously polluted ponds. However, in the process of planting, we should pay attention to the changes of sediment and water quality, and deal with the deterioration of sediment and water quality in time to avoid the death of lotus seedlings and affect the quality and yield of lotus. In addition, weeds should be removed in time when planting, which is beneficial to the growth of lotus seedlings.

6. Water demand: The water demand of lotus depends on different varieties. The water level of large-scale varieties such as Chiba and Gulian is deep, but it should not exceed 1.7 m, while the water depth of small and medium-sized plants is 20-60cm. Because lotus is very sensitive to water loss, if it is not irrigated for more than 3 hours in summer, the lotus leaves planted in tanks will shrink, for example, if the water is stopped for more than 1 day.

7. Lotus belongs to aquatic plants and should not be short of water during its growth. At the initial stage of growth, the water layer should be controlled at about 3cm. Too deep water is not conducive to raising the temperature of soil. If you use tap water, you can put it in a jar and use it after 1-2 days of sun exposure. Summer belongs to the vigorous growth period of lotus seedlings, and sufficient water should be kept in the basin. After winter, the soil in the basin should also maintain a certain humidity to prevent the lotus root seedlings from dying due to lack of water.
